Heresy upgrades

For the 2 mfd cap, what is the sonic difference between an Auricap (Metallized Polypropylene) at US$12 each and the Solen SE200 (Polypropylene Film & Tin Foil) for US$14 each ? If one better than the other?

I used Solen PB1300 13 mfd (US$5.25) and Auricap 2.0 mfd (US$9.95) for

my KHorns AA's, so now I'm confused. Should I have used the Solen

SE200 there as well?

(The Canadian dollar is pretty high now, so I might order from

www.partsconnexion.com, but if it's all Solen then there is also

solen.ca !)

Thanks!

Sorry, I can't comment on the Auricap. But, if you

have had good luck in the khorn and they are cheaper, then why not them in the

Heresy too.

Oh, by the way. If youre in QC, why not order straight from

solen.ca. The 15.91 was a Canadian price. The price you quoted for

the se200 of $14 would end up being 16.47 @ 0.85 on the $

Here is a link back to where I started investigating upgrading the crossover,

it has some very good suggestions.

I ended up ordering from Parts Connexion because I wanted Auricap caps

as well as Solen caps. Part Connexion were a few dollars more

expensive than solen.ca on the Solen caps, but they also had the

Auricap caps. Plus they were having a sale at the time, 15% off

or something, so they might have been cheaper after all. Parts

Connexion list prices in US dollars but convert to Canadian at the

daily rate. They are also in Canada, and I might have saved

Provincial taxes as well (I'd have to check) since they are in Ontario.

I'm just wondering which are supposed to be better : Auricap (Metallized Polypropylene) or Solen SE (Tin Foil / Polypropylene Film) ??

At the time of the KHorn update, I was buying a more expensive (better)

Auricap instead of a cheap Solen PB200 (2 mfd). But I

hadn't considered the SE200 at all. This was based solely on

forum recommendations; I have no other experience with this stuff.

I have a Chertwell LS3/5A and a friend has a Heresy from 70s in mint condition. we compared them and Heresy just disappointed me :( sounded muddy, bassshy, under blanket. but LS3/5a blew away sounded very musical as if the Khorn were singing! I don't know what was wrong with Heresy. we used a PP EL84 tube amp. here you see a picture of Heresy we were takin' a look inside and that little snip LS3/5a beside Khorns:
