michael hurd
Salamander designs offers their archetype racks, which is nothing more than plated threaded rod, a bunch of washers and nuts, and predrilled shelving. IE: they can be adjusted anytime, infinately adjustable shelves. Some places like www.audioadvisor.com are a good source for racks with adjustable shelving. This is the archetype rack I was mentioning, it is available at audio advisor. http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/productdetail.asp?sku=SALA5B/X There are many boutique brands with extravagent prices, and there are decent pieces that are not to expensive. If you want truly custom, be prepared to shell out some big $$, you could see your local cabinetmaker as well. The only disadvantage, if you do not have adjustable shelves, and you change equipment down the road, it may not fit. I have found that most cheap racks are very limited when it comes to adjustability, either too tight a gap, or to big. I have threaded rod to build myself a rack, similar in style to the salamander, for a lot less money, just have not had the time and shop space to rip a sheet of material and finish the shelves. lynnm
Take a look at the Flexy Rack This is a DIY solution that can be built very inexpensively. http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/flexye.html I built a 5 shelf 4 legged version for less than $100.00 Canadian.
