BygByrd
Does anybody have any experience with an RF-7 system powered by a B&K AVR507sII receiver? I am very close to finishing the rough-in on my theater room. Room dimensions are 12' x 24' with 8' ceilings. Floor is carpeted. Does anybody think the RF-7 system is too big for a room this size?[:^)]
Zen Traveler
Welcome to the forum, BygByrd [] I have heard that B&K sound excellent with Klipsch speakers. My room is smaller than yours (although I have a high A-Frame ceiling) and I have everything in my signature crammed in my humble HT and it sounds great! I chose the Denon over the B&K because of price. The added benefit with the Denon is that you can use 2 sets of side surrounds. The benefit with the 507 is that you have more REAL power. That's my 2 cents. Good luck
TheSoundBroker
RF-7 system will work well in that size room. We just did a system for a client in a similar size space. Your only big issue is going to be the room size...those multipledimensions (12 x 24) are going to play havoc with the low bass. Youwant to think seriously about some acoustic treatments. You also maywant to look at the Sherwood R-965 reciever with the SNAP roomEQ...sounds really good with the RF-7 system. I'd also budget for aBehringer LFE eq. MrMcGoo
The B&K Reference amps would sound a bit better than the B&K receiver. The B&K receiver is way better than average for a receiver. However, the receiver has three pairs of MOS-FETs for output devices while a Reference amp has 5 pairs. This may not seem like much difference, but it is significant if you like loud movies or music. BygByrd
What kind of acoustic treatments do you recommend? Is there anything structurally I could do with the walls or ceilings now that will help? I am still framing this room so, that is an option. I will check out the Sherwood and the Behringer LFE eq. What in particular about these two pieces of hardware do you favor for an application like mine? Thanks for the help!
SteelerFan
If you don't have room for seperates and must use a receiver then the B&K is one of the best choices you can make.
wheelman
I owned a B&K power amp before, and the highs and mids were as good as I ever heard. Maybe a little light on the bass or just sheer acuracy. It's tough to figure the difference when your used to garbage. B&K is awesome!
