RM1111
Hey all, I just got my Rotel Rmb 1095 and Rsp 985 in today and don't have a chance to set it up yet. Man the 1095 is heavy! This is my first time going separates. I was wondering, is it ok to stack the 985 on top of the 1095? Would putting fans on top of the 985 while its on the 1095 help? Or I should separate them and give the 1095 more room and put the fans directly on 1095. Thanks all. Ray
MrMcGoo
Your Rotel 1095 will run very warm. It requires ventilation and should NOT have anything on top of it. Equipment that runs cooler will last much longer. Bill
dragonfyr
Good advice Bill, for just about any amplifier... I have preferred to fan cool passive amplifiers (especially tube amps) with 1 or 2 large diameter, slower RPM muffin fans which will move alot of air but with lower noise. Another unit that I would like to explore for this use, but with which I have not had hands on experience, is the crossflow format fan available for use in the Coolermaster Stacker computer case. This is available for about $25 from NewEgg. This may be a good ventilation unit to explore for good air volume(cfm), low noise level and horizontal placement. Just an idea...
