masterngc
When you guys say an instument only goes down to xx HZ, are you talking just about the fundamental tone of the note or are you taking resonances from the instrument into effect? djn
Hi, when I wrote that it was late at night and I was only thinking about the first order, not the 2,3,4,5,6th. I audititioned the VMPS New Larger Subwoofer last night as a possible. I just don't think it can keep up with the horns. The sound is better matched to non-horn speakers. I am going with the EV Patrician VI cabinet with the K33 driver.Cheers.
DizRotus
I like that appraoch better than trying to integrate DRs and horns. If you need any assistance with your project, let me know. BTW, I'll let you know when it's time to lift the LasScalas to their resting places in the Seaholm band room. It might take a little longer to prep them than originally thought. Are you familiar with the fable about stone soup?
djn
Hi Neil, I will have you over when I get it all set up. Is there a football game this Friday night. I'll stop by if there is. Cheers.
DrWho
When you guys say an instument only goes down to xx HZ, are you talking just about the fundamental tone of the note or are you taking resonances from the instrument into effect? They're talking about the fundamental tone... There are plenty of subharmonics that go lower, but this will be dependant on the specific instrument in question and the processing being implemented. For example, I know of plenty electric bass guitars with 16Hz output. The bass player from Yes does this all the time (and man is it intense). Blue Man Group is another band where there are insanely low notes too (and they're using a lot of instruments nobody has ever heard of before too). And then there's Cell Dweller and Nightwish, etc etc... I can think of lots of great sounding instruments that dig deeper than their "fundamental tone." No more football this year. Lahser knocked Seaholm out of the playoffs last Saturday. I'd like to see and hear your system when its set up.
