bookman
Recently purchased a pair of mint' 88 Chorus from a fellow forum member. I purchased these for use in a 2 channel TT arrangement. I tried them in my HT (center and surround back) and moved my old C & SB (Heresy) to surround. My mains are Klipschorns. This arrangement is fantastic. The Chorus as a center produces a softer, more detailed sound than the Heresy. Much more power. I turned down the EQ on the receiver(Pioneer 912x) and the whole system is mucher lounder and dynamic. The Heresies are ideal surround speakers. In playing the Roy Orbison Black & White DVD all the supporting voices are there clearly in back and Bruce is clear singing backup in the center Chorus(not heard before). The Chorus at center produces great bass, which I did not get previous. I use a Klipsch THX sub (15" W/15" passive) to round this off.B&K amps the Khorns. I'm very pleased with this setup.I would recommend the Chorus speaker to anyone for HT PS I listened to an orchesta concert on public TV last night and it sounded like a DVD. rplace
Hey Bookman, Glad the Chorus survived the trip home. I really enjoyed meeting you and talking with you and your wife. I did not realize you were putting a Chorus in the surround back position as well. You now have the exact same set up I had for several months before I found that Belle for my center. Khorn/Chorus/Khorn up front and Heresy/Chorus/Heresy in back, right??? I think you made a big improvement especially in your surrounds. I really like my Heresy surrounds. Are they floor mounted, on stands at ear level or wall mounted? I thought the Chorus was a superb center. The dialogue was crisp and clear, well anchored for movies in the center of the screen and no timbre issues that I could detect. Having that Chorus in the rear with the glass top on it functioned as a small table behind our seats as an added bonus. I have posted a few times that I have not gotten used to the Belle in the center yet. I have a few things to try like raising the belle or lowering the screen along with updating the crossovers. I know the Belle should be the more perfect match, but I still have not warmed up to it yet. Currently it is just too forward or obvious. It seems to draw your attention to the speaker below the screen rather then to the person talking in the scene. I am hoping DeanGs super AAs in my front trio will fix that over the current older AK2s in the khorns along with an ancient, rusted, dusty, miserable looking AA in the Belle. I cant wait for them to arrive. Thanks again for stopping by and glad you are enjoying the Chorus, Rich P.S. did you try the Chorus at all as two channel speakers with your vinyl rig or did they go straight to the theater? bookman
Rich, The Heresy surrounds are on small tables at ear level. The Chorus went to HT. I'll disconnect and rewire when I listen to records, that's easy in my room(23x24). Regards,Gary
Olorin
Hey Rich, There's a handy feature in your receiver that will let you turn the center down relative to your mains. GD&R, O
