Grog,
Thanks for the clue. I would never have gotten that in a million years. I still don't know what the song is, but I figured out the Archies with the clue. I only know Sugar Sugar.

The other song is Curtis Lowe by LS.

Crap, now its my turn.
I have been burning CD's to my ipod and have it hooked up to the car stereo. I loaded about 300 blues songs so that's all I can think of now. I'll get back in a little while with more lyric's or if anyone else has a song feel free to post them.
Danny

Ok in the Archies era, this was the first one that started it:

Love, you're such a sweet thing
Good enough to eat thing
And it's just a-what I'm gonna do

Ooh love to hold ya
Ooh love to kiss ya
Ooh love I love it so
Ooh love you're sweeter
Sweeter than sugar
Ooh love
I wont let you go

(I looked it up)

Now that is a classic!

1910 Fruitgum Company - Yummy, Yummy, Yummy

Here is another one!

Since the name of the song is said so much I changed the name of the song to "NAME_OF_SONG".

Can you guess who did this song?

Every time I try to prove I love you,

"NAME_OF_SONG", you stop me,

baby you ain't right to stop me,

"NAME_OF_SONG", you stop me.

Every time I make a move to love you,

"NAME_OF_SONG", you stop me,

baby every night you stop me,

"NAME_OF_SONG".

Hint:

Name change to part of song name not all of it.

Just fill in the "x", "y" and "z" and you have it.

Every time I try to prove I love you,

"x" "y" "z" red light, you stop me,

baby you ain't right to stop me,

"x" "y" "z" red light, you stop me.

Every time I make a move to love you,

"x" "y" "z" red light, you stop me,

baby every night you stop me,

"x" "y" "z" red light.

Second "yummy" hint:

The song before this one is a clue...

"x" "y" "z" red light is the name of the song..

"x" is a number above 0 and below 2.

"y" is a number above 1 and below 3.

"z" is a number above 2 and below 4.

So the name of the song is

< your guess here >... red light.

Could be like.... "4 5 6 Red Light" but that does not meet the hint above.

ummmm what could it be?

The group is the same group who did the last song guessed.... yummy,,... what was that group?

To keep the thread alive I will take your last line as a challenge.

Hope you don't mind.

Challenge: Danny (Only one line but that will do fine).

Ballad of Danny Bailey (1909-34) - Elton John

Next challenge:

A quiver in my lips as if I might cry.

Well by the force of will my lungs are filled and so I breathe.

Lately it seems this big bed is where I never leave.

The band hails from Jamestown, New York.

Greg

Dire Straits.

Can't remember the song.

heavy heavy fuel?

$100 bills for suicide notes.

from a great album, by the way.

Oh I know this one Greg!

See I did learn something hanging around bitter women who couldn't get a date on Friday night. I would drink their wine and listen to their tunes.

Another line in the song:

What a cold and rainy day. Where on earth is the sun hid

away."

Next contestant come on down.

Greg, to keep this going I was going to add one of my all time favorite songs, but it seems like every other line has the title in it so from the same album:

I can see very well.

There's a boat on the reef with a broken back

And I can see it very well

There's a joke and I know it very well

It's one of those that I told you long ago

Well the tubes are warmed up and I am going to put the CD on now and listen to the songs.

In case someone did not get the answer...

It was 10,000 Maniacs....Like The Weather.

Your song is by Elton John, "Madman Across The Water". I liked

Tiny Dancer beter which if memory serves me is on the same CD.

Here is one... All the words to the song are here with the name of the song not shown.

<NAME_OF_SONG>, honey

Don't you know that I'm lovin' you

<NAME_OF_SONG>, baby

Don't you know that I'll always be true

Oh won't you come with me

And take my hand

Oh won't you come with me

We'll walk this land

And please, please, take my hand

That's all the words but the song was 17 minutes and 10 seconds.

Oh.. one more hint here....

The remastered CD has this song three times and there are only eight

songs on the CD. Great CD though.... Yes, three versions of the same

song.

Stayed on the charts for 140 weeks, with 81 weeks in the Top Ten. To

date the album has sold in excess of 30 million copies and remains an

undisputed classic in the archives of rock with DJ's and audiophiles

worldwide.

The group is still touring.

I am playing the remastered CD right now!

Hint time:

"The group" outsold every record in the

history of recorded music within the first year of its release (over

eight million copies sold) and therefore outgrew and outsold the

standard of the music industry's "Gold Album" award. For this

achievment, "The Group" was subsequently awarded: The Industry's

Very First "Platinum Album"!

"The group" toured extensively, appearing throughout the U.S., Canada

and Europe, where they appeared at London's world famous Royal Albert

Hall. The band also appeared on stage with: Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin,

Frank Zappa, Chicago, Janis Joplin, Steppenwolf, Canned Heat, Three Dog

Night, Quicksilver, Yes, Creedence Clearwater, Rush, The Turtles,

Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills & Nash, & The Byrds, just to

name a few!

Past television performances have included: The Steve Allen Show, The

David Frost Show, The Red Skelton Comedy Hour, Playboy After Dark, The

Dating Game, Somethin' Else, and numerous performances on American

BandStand, with Dick Clark. The Band also was invited by Atlantic

Records to perform on May 14, 1988 at Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary

Concert "It's Only Rock'n Roll" at Madison Square Garden, in New York

City which HBO taped, and televised, world-wide via satellite.

"The group's" music has been featured in movies like: Savage Seven,

Manhunter, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Night Mare On Elm Street, and

Fatal Instinct,as well as the TV series Wonder Years, Hardcastle &

McCormick, Roseanne, Home Improvement, The Simpsons, and Unsolved

Mysteries. References to the band and their music are still frequently

heard, in hit movies like Ford Fairlane, Sybling Rivalries, and several

times on top TV shows: Cheers, Letterman, Dennis Miller Show, Howard

Stern and numerous others. In November '95 Ron Bushy appeared on Phil

Donahue, and Unsolved Mysteries. In 1996 the group appeared in:

American Journal, America's Most Wanted, and People Magazine.

The band was booked to play at Woodstock, but were stuck at an airport.

The drummer of this group played the most famous drum solo of all time.

Pictures taken on April 27, 2005 at the Lagerhalle in Osnabrück, Germany.

My bad. Poor clue. Sorry for the miscue.

Bloodrock - D.O.A.

Laying here looking at the ceiling
Someone lays a sheet across my chest
Something warm is flowing down my fingers
Pain is flowing all through my back

I try to move my arms and there's no feeling
And when I look I see there's nothing there
The face beside me stopped it totally bleeding
The girl I knew has such a distant stare

I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air
I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air

Then I looked straight at the attendant
His face is pale as it can be
He bends and whispers something softly
He says there's no chance for me

I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air
I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air

Life is flowing out my body
Pain is flowing out with my blood
The sheets are red and moist where I'm lying
God in Heaven, teach me how to die

I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air
I remember
We were flying along and hit something in the air

Iron Butterfly.

In A Gadda Da Vida.

I have always liked "Soul Experience" from the album Ball.

Another

From The Crazy World of Arthur Brown...

I am the god of hell fire, and I bring you

<name of song>, I'll take you to burn

<name of song>, I'll take you to learn

I'll see you burn

You fought hard and you saved and earned

But all of it's going to burn

And your mind, your tiny mind

You know you've really been so blind

Now 's your time, burn your mind

You're falling far too far behind

Oh no, oh no, oh no, you're gonna burn

Greg, good one. knew the drum solo but never really thought about the words.

favorite song from madman across the h20 is Levon. That song could end up on my all time top 10 list.

callme, i think the name of the song is fire. it's the only top ten song of his i remember. oh yea welcome to the BB and keep the songs going.

here's one from the muscle shoals/memphis gang:

I'm gonna wait till the "song title"

That's when my love comes a-tumbling down

I'm gonna wait till the "song title"

When there's nobody else around

I'm gonna take you girl and hold you

Do all the things I told you

In the "song title"

Yes I am

I'm listening to the song track of "the commitments" as i type. i still can't believe the guy singing this song was 16.
