Wanted: RS-3 II

The sound is very close on the RS-35, I would find a pair of those, and not worry, unless you are a real stickler with matching. I have mismatched rears, and notice no real drastic change in panning to the rear. I did have a mismatched center, and found that it did work ok, but when I got the proper center, seemed like a mcuh better match.

This may help you decide on alternatives. From the spec sheets,

RS-3: 61-20KHz +/- 3dB, 95dB sensitivity, Two K-106-K 1" (2.54cm) Titanium dome compression drivers, K-1086-S 6.5" (16.51cm) Cerametallic® cone / cast polymer frame

RS-3 II: 61-20kHz +/- 3dB, 95dB sensitivity, Two K-106-K 1" (2.54cm) Titanium dome compression drivers, K-1086-S 6.5" (16.51cm) Cerametallic® cone / cast polymer frame

RS-35: 81-20kHz +/- 3dB, 97dB sensitivity, Two K-137 1" (2.54cm) Titanium dome compression drivers, K-1126-O 6.5" (16.51cm) Cerametallic® cone / cast polymer frame

60 Hz in that region is, let's see 60-120 would be an octave, so going from cutoff of 60 to 80 is like about one third of an octave, or a whopping 3-4 notes. Not a super huge deal. If it's HT, you're probably crossing over at 80 (THX standard) anyway.

Really, no big deal, unless you can grab a pair of 3II's used cheap.

EDIT **Do you have the RB5 as back surround and want to use the RS for side duty, or vice versa? Those RB's have pretty substantial bass, so I can see why you might balk at the 35's paltry performance. Any way to squeeze 4 RB5's back there for surround duty?
