  1. A call to Klipsch revealed that, since the SW-10 and its ilk were designed before Dolby Digital home theater, they are better suited to music than film explosions - the woofer will bottom out. Given that, what would be a frugal recommendation for a sub for this starter 5.1 setup?
  2. A parting gift for my son: kg 1.5's mains, kv-3 center, ss.5 surrounds (e-bay deals and my previous equipment). Which used powered sub would work well? The 1.5's are 3db down at 50 hz, so another octave would be 25hz...
  3. Fax your room layout to SVS and they'll recommend the appropriate sub. I was looking forward to playing around with one of the higher end cylinders, but the 20-39pci was the appropriate sub for my room. And it's amazing.
  4. Klipsch sells the replacement woofer K-1142-T for $40 shipped. Ordered it - worked like a charm (terminals not marked, though - assumed the fat one was +, the skinny one was - )
  5. Klipsch says the replacement woofer is the K-1142-T for $40 shipped. Was wondering if somebody had an injured KG 1.5 or KSF-S5, or the woofer, lying around. Thanks, Frank
  6. The KV-3 is a nice center. I have it between two KG 1.2's in my secondary ht.
  7. St. Louis contingent signing in....
  8. Was the Forte designed to be a mini-Cornwall?
  9. Great anecdotes! Amy, are there any behind the scenes facts to be known, like about the designers and why the Forte was developed, any last-minute changes, whether PWK was happy with them, whether they were the best seller ever for Klipsch, etc.?
  10. I first became aware of the Forte from Julian Hirsch's glowing review in the July 1986 issue of Stereo Review. I've been listening to them ever since. Considering the lead time on the review, we must be very close to the 20th anniversary of the release date. Does anybody have any good stories about the Forte, including incept date, designers, strategy, etc? How about anecdotes? Happy 20th Birthday, Klipsch Forte!
  11. ISF calibration will make the experience even more "wow." So will the correct bias lighting behind your HDTV.
  12. A very nice looking OO Academy just went for $636 on 31 January, which, with $75 shipping (whew), equals $711. That's the highest I've seen on eBay. Do prices go up around bonus/tax refund time, or is something else going on? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5858748535
