gbrlex
I just purchased an SVS12Plus/2 sub and was wondering what the recommendations would be on setting it up. Using the Radio Shack sound meter I have the front, center and rears set at 75db and the sub at 82. The volume control on the Rotel 1068 was set at 65. This is the setup Rotel recommended. Any thoughts?
Cal Blacksmith
It is my understanding that all reference tones should be set to the same volume. Whether that is done automatically or by hand with a meter.
JeffDurbin
I agree. Isn't the purpose of using an SPL meter to ensure that the difference in sound pressure level at your seating position resulting from different speaker efficiencies and different distances from the listening position could be adjusted by the pre-amp or receiver so that they are all the same? Speaking of which, I bought my SPL meter two weekends ago and still have not yet dialed in my own speakers.
