milton10
Has anyone compaired the Sunfire Super Junior to any of the big 15" Klipsch subs? Am I missing anything? I have a small HT area and the Sunfire gets down to 23 Hz cleanly. Thanks
TheSoundBroker
Yes, you are missing out. If your room supports it, what you'll get on the bigger sub is sheer power and output at the low frequencies without anywhere near the level of compression. The Sunfire can go down to 23 hz, but it hardly will have a lot of output. At higher volume levels will compress as it just flat out runs out of steam. The Klipsch will also run out of steam...it just has a hell of a lot more steam to run out of. In a small space, you may want to look at the RSW-12 or (even better) a THX Ultra 2 setup, which is easier to tune. The RSW-15 will work, but it may be too much sub for a small area. Of course if you move... With subwoofers, there just ain't no substitute for cubic inches.
TheEAR
Lets do not stretch things here. The Super Junior is the most capable micro sub, real micro sub(being a bit over 9*9*9" in size)it is quite ok down to 31.5Hz,23Hz is pulling it to deep down,a RSW15 will outperform it many times over in any test. This is a featherweight versus a heavyweight, the big guy knocks the small fly out cold. You cannot pit a 8" woofer against a 15" and hope for the smaller to have any chance.Unless the 15" woofer has pathetic linear, not the case here. Now pit the Sunfire Signature in for a fair fight [] The Sig will dispatch the RSW12 with ease and take the RSW15 on in the deep bass shake factor test. boomer9911
They are totally different, if the looks fool you, try again....[] Junior is great in a confined area, truly rocks and enhances a smaller setup IMO, the RSW-15(owned at 1 time), did not pass my test, way to punchy, should be in the back of a Vega if it fits... would rather have a RSW-12(nice sub IMO)....thats why I settled for a Velodyne FSR-18...matches my Khorns and Heritage setup, just wish it was a Heritage centre and subwoofer match....oh ya.... When is the Heritage 18" subwoofer and centre channel speaker coming out Klipsch....just curious.....[]
