new speakers at home?

So my brother mentions a really good deal at Best Buy yesterday....4 F3's and a C3 for $1500.

And now today my dad starts asking me about it!

so I'm thinking there might be some new klipsch going into the house over my holiday break...

Seems my dad has finally realized how insufficient his bose really is after I took my Chorus II's back to college with me [H]

He doesn't see how he can justify spending $650 on the Sub-12 though,

which would be 1/3 the cost of the system. He actually went to Best Buy

tonight and told me about his experience and how "the Sub-12 was leap

years beyond the sub-10."

I know someone is going to chime in and recommend that I try to sell

him on the reference or heritage stuff, but I think my dad would get

far more bang for his buck with the synergy. We've already got the

denon1803 (which was $300) so if he does get the synergy system, we're

talking a fricken amazing surround setup for $2500 total.

I seriously can't believe my dad is considering this though....at the

very least this just proves that he was trying to annoy me by claiming

his bose sounded just like the Chorus II's. I'll hold that over his

head AFTER he makes the purchase though...it'll be nice to go home and

actually be able to watch the movies.

Damn Who, yer Dad is finally getting nearly as cool as your crazy Uncle! LOL

I'd just let him do his thing with some gentle guidance. Finances are probably part of the equation. Synergy will be fine for their listening styles and that room. You had it way overpowered with all that stuff of yours and that killer sub. Good that he's finally gotten over the Bose thing. Cool that he's considering the Sub12. Wish we could have heard it at BB that day!

You done good!

They're actually the "Bose Bookshelf 4.2" speakers....a bit bigger than an RB-75 on it's side (like half the size of a heresy). It's a pseudo coax design with a tweeter mounted in front of the woofer, which has a slanted slot port on the front.

Still not sure if he will be purchasing anything...kinda hard to pass up on such a great deal though.

>>> 4 F3's, 1C3, and 1 Sub-12 = $1400

That is a STEAL!! But, I don't understand why he needs 4 F-3s, I would think that using the S-3s would be more than adequate for most rooms and drive the price down even lower!! BUT, having said that, I'd love to have the F-3s at each corner. Still, the main F-3s with a Sub-12 and C3 is going to be a fine combination!

Yahoo! what a great price. Each set of F-3s alone is worth $800.

A good sub is worth a third or fourth of the overall price.

It is charged with producing the most difficult, and some would argue, the most important sounds in your HT system. It will also reduce the load on your other speakers and receiver providing for a cleaner sound overall (assuming the sub has a built in amp).

Your father is in for a real awakening!!!!

Happy Holidays!

P.S. I would take any budget that would have included 6.1 and put it towards the rest of the speaker system. An upgrade up front or the sub would pay larger dividends.
