Daddy Dee
I forward pfishing e-mail to spoof@ebay.com sometimes a couple of times a day. They always send back an e-mail saying three things: 1. confirms that it was not from Ebay. 2. a warning about pfishing. 3. a statement that Ebay has no control over e-mail not sent from them. 4. a statement that the pfishing e-mail has been turned over to the proper authorities. Does anyone know who the proper authorities are? Local police? FBI? CIA? The Taliban? It would seem that there are so many millions of these phishing e-mails that turning over to the proper authorities would be about a good as drag and drop to the trashcan on your desktop. I know I'm cynical, but I'd like to be wrong. Any help here?
Woodog
4. a statement that the pfishing e-mail has been turned over to the proper authorities. Does anyone know who the proper authorities are? Local police? FBI? CIA? The Taliban? Personally, I think someone in charge of those things just renamed their email trashcan 'Proper Authorities'. Jay481985
honestly when I worked for a internet gaming forum as an admin, the repeat cheaters would rarely if ever get caught. If they were we would call the ISP (internet service provider) as most have actual phonenumbers for complaints and say that such and such IP (the internet number your computer is assigned to, kinda like a street address with each computer/router being unique) has been going to our servers unauthorized etc etc. Usually the user will be called by the isp, warned, etc or they actually block the user's computer to our website (our ip) etc etc. But unfortunately most spammers and pfishers are in another country. Also the user could just user a different company.

Jay481985
that is the thing, the laws are horrible outdated because of the status quo. But there is some thing good about that since stupid laws are usually weeded out by the length of time they are required to pass into law.
