iwillwalk
my cable is to long to get the signal from my b&k to my pj 4805, so i have about 15 extra feet. so if i cut out all the extra wire and solder it back together will that mess up the signal? kktvbob
First question is do you know how to solder. If not this would not be the job to learn on. If you can solder just keep the heat short on the plugs. I do things like this all day long at the tv station. You could just hide the cable under the rack or the tv so if you move things around you still have the cable long enough. So do you have a 68 GTX conventable? I,m restoring one now. Malcolm
Not a good idea to cut and solder a video cable. A skilled technician may be able to do it with minimal effect on impedance at the splice point. You probably won't. And an impedance mismatch will result in ghosts. Just cut off what you don't need and put new a new connector on the end.
kktvbob
Thats correct you never splice video cables and I don,t like to splice audio cable ether. You cut it down at the connector but it,s easy to melt the connector. The dielectric is plastic between the center pin and the ground and will not take much heat. dougdrake
I'm guessing you want to shorten it for aesthetic reasons (cuz 15' extra feet won't, I don't think, further degrade a composite signal)? I guess given the low price of composite cables, you might be able to buy a new one of the length you want?
iwillwalk
thanks my friend will get more conectors and we will cut them at the end. my old 4805 could read the signal but this one doesnt, infocuus said some pj's get it and some dont.............
