COWBOYFAN
Im trying to find out why my Dennon 5700 reciever shuts off while im watching a dvd in the surround mode? This only happens when the movie gets to a loud action part Example: Castaway when the airplane crashes in the ocean. I have all Klipsch speakers KLF 30 (PAIR) KLF C7, KSP-6 (2 PAIRS REAR AND SIDES) RSW 15 SUB. Have checked speaker connection and everything looks fine. If I turn the volume down it will play right through it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Richard
soundog
Is the receiver you are using 5.1 or 6.1? What is the impedance of your speakers? Two pairs will in parallel lower the impedance which might be lower than your amp can handle at high volumes so it shuts off. TheEAR
The Denon 5700 has a solid amp,the amps can drive even 4 Ohms speakers. Is the reciever hot(top cover)when you touch it? I wouold not drive two pairs of speakers with one out(even 8 Ohms). You have the RSW15! WOW COWBOYFAN how does it sound? How do you find the match with the KLF30's? soundog
As you can se from below, I run pairs of speakers off a number of channels in each of my systems. I set the Outlaw 1050 to 4 ohms and each of its six 65 watt channels work admirably (100 watts is not always better than 65). I have discovered that if they do cut out at high volume the cause has always been one tiny stray strand of speaker wire very close to or touching the opposite terminal. This short doesnt cause the receiver to kick out at low levels but does at very high levels (usually DVD explosions). While I have some supplemental amplification available (via some old receivers I have)for the extra speakers, I am yet to hook it up because everything seems to be working so well. If I make sure all my connections are perfect, the 1050s dont kick out at even deafening levels (probably as much to do with Klipsch high efficiency as the Outlaws stability). On another note, I agree it would be good to have an equipment section in profiles rather than listing with comments. I do think equipment listings should be available because they are important when dealing with questions such as this one. Actually I would like to set up a web site with pictures.
