belial
I realize the answer is likely to be "a lot," but I was hoping someone could back that up with specifics ... I have a Yamaha HTR-5240. It sounds better in stereo than in DD 5.1, and I get some hiss when in DD 5.1 mode, but I have heard that many HT recievers do that. Is it possible to buy an HT reciever under $500 that DOESN'T give hiss in 5.1? Do you think I could buy a reciever at that price which would improve the HT sound I get now? Any recommendations? t-man
My Denon doesn't have any hiss. $500 retail. I wouldn't recommend it for stereo listening (hard core), but I have no complaints for 5.1 HT. belial
Thanks for the response! Which Denon is that, exactly?
soundog
I have an OutlawAudio.com 1050 6.1 receiver that I would recommend for both music and HT. So do a number of AV publications. It was recently reduced to $499.
BigBusa
Belial I have an extra refurbished Onkyo TSDX787 on it's way to me from Ubid. I ordered two by mistake. They are supposed to be a great HT reciever. Time will tell. Go me! Want it for $549 + shipping? That's $40 less than what I paid for it. ------------------ Ubid SUX. Be very wary if you use them. BigBusa
Belial after a lengthy call (39 minutes on hold before even getting a human) to Ubid I was able to get them to cancel the 2nd reciever. However, it wouldn't surprise me if it shows up here anyway. I'll let you know if it does. ------------------ Ubid SUX. Be very wary if you use them.
