tidmack
Fellas- This post is actually for my Dad. A buddy of mine is building him a new desktop pc and Dad wants to be able to record his vinyl to CD. He currently does this on his stand alone burner, but doesn't have the opportunity to edit, get rid of hiss, pops , etc. Is there a decent card out there that will accept turntable RCA's to allow my Dad to hook his turntable up to the PC? This PC will only be used to record music, surf the web, and perform MS Office type tasks. He's definitely not a gamer, so if a more basic reliable card will do the trick, that'd be a safer bet for him. Second, does anyone have any recording software recomendations? It seems like prices vary quite a bit. Will I get what I pay for or is there a point of diminishing returns for recording software? Any help is tremendously appreciated. Thanks. Jay481985
Well technically if he wants to go really cheap as I described before. If he just gets a 1/4 rca to 1/8 ministereo plug and plug the rca to the vinyl player out and plug the ministereo (looks like a headphone jack because it is one) into the line in and get a software that will record line in to whatever file you like (.wave, mp3, aac, lossless, etc) and then use an editing software to refine it that is a cheap way. Also for soundcards I would say M-Revo heck 5.1 around 70 dollars. That is very good. Try newegg.com With sound editing price does vary from cheap usually you get simple editing like basic cutting and splicing and hiss removing which may be all you need to say more professional like adobe audition.
