jcmusic
How hot is too hot? I just put a scott tube system in my glass enclosure, it gets up to 100 degrees in there. Is this too hot? Or can I put a fan on it ?
CaptnBob
As I recall, McIntosh Labs used to say every increase of 10 degrees in operating temperature cuts the life of a component in half. A fan would help, if you can stand the noise.
NOSValves
What part of the country do you live in? If your in a cold climate this time of year come summer that 100 degrees could become 150 or more easily. Is the glass enclosure completely closed with no or little ventilation? If so get it out of there your asking for trouble. If the entire back is open and you can crack the front door to allow the heat to rise up out of the back while in use then you should be fine. These amps were often installed in wood enclosures (consoles) with just vent holes in the back of the cabinet to let the heat naturally escape but these cabinets were huge with lots of space. Put up a picture of the setup and it will give me a better idea what your dealing with. Craig
