WMcD
No, to my knowledge no Klipsch speaker has been "liquid cooled". The use of ferro fluid was popular some time ago. Perhaps still. In theory, the stuff is placed in the area of the voice coil. That way the heat generated by the voice coil can be conducted to the magnet structure via the liquid. Of course we know that most Klipsch speakers are very efficent and thus there should be little heat generated at reasonable listening levels. It is interesting to contemplate why drivers fail. Naturally it is because of an overload condition. PWK once commented that he thought some failures were due to heat. However, in at least one case he found that the overload condition tore the mechanism apart by force. Or at least that is my interpretation. Of course I'm sure he didn't mean to over generalize. And I wouldn't want to either. There are some other reports out of Hope about plastic horn drivers being driven so hard over a long term that they melt down. That must have taken some doing. Specifically, the Heritage horns use a K33, K55, and K77. None use ferro fluid. Gil
