  1. I use a carver m400 for my scalas, i've heard so many stories of people having these and them catching on fire, i've had mine probably 20 years maybe, without any problems, i've made the thing shut off before, but no problems other than that . The only complaint i have about it is that i get some major hissing at lower volumes, but when its turned up loud, you can't notice a thing. plus it stays super cool. i dunno if you can still buy them, but its been a great amp for me. the only other thing i've used with them was a pioneer reciver (don't know the model) and it just sounded like crap, i went right back to the caver/radioshack mixer setup. Still impresses me today. Rob.
  2. wow, i'm just getting back into these forums, and times must have changed! Bose must be the number one enemy for klipsch fans, i still remember, "No highs, No Lows, Must be Bose", i wonder if that Bose flamming post from a year ago is still here?
  3. Most of these posts are depressing, what about all the people who love these things!
  4. Hey yall, long time klipsch owner, pro media 2-400 and some la scalas. Any who, ever since the day i bought the medias, i've had that stupid volume knob. I've just avoided it, I had a mixer I used with the scalas, so I just used the volume knob on my keyboard, left the volume setting at half, and didn't worry. Now, today like 2 years later, i bump the volume knob, scratch, the right front speaker didn't work. i turned it some more and it came back on, but its now quieter. Anyway, my question is, is it worth the 50 bux for the new pod or should i just fidgit with it some more? The newone looks nice, but the "upgrades" they claim, am I going to notice a difference, or just the volume knob? Thanks. Rob
  5. i just got my 4.1 the other day, and i have noticed that the tweeters are not "klipsch sounding" i have to use the eq on winamp to get them up there. i have to say, if this is the way that these speakers sound, i'm very dissatisfied. Rob
  6. I just got my 4.1's yesterday, and after a life time of listening to my Klipsch LaScala(s) the promedias fall so short of the klipsch name, i have read over this forum before i posted this question, Some songs sound great, others sound really bad, i know a lot about computers and it is not the quality of the mp3's, it seems that when a song has alot of bass the sub just gives up and starts to become very quiet. it takes about 5 minutes to come back out of this stage, and also it seems that my fronts are reciveing far less power than the rears, i actually switched the fronts with the rears because i couldn't hear anything from in front of me! i have read that the sound card has much to do with the sound, i am running these on a laptop with and AC97 soundcard, which i know is crap, but why do some songs sound great and others with heavy bass, the sub gives up. anybody else had these problems? Thanks a bunch ROb
  7. Could you (if you wanted) hook one speaker up to the "a" out put on an amp with putting a positive wire from the left and a negitive wire from the right up to one speaker and then do the same for the "b" output? would this give the speakers more power? Thanx ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  8. lnetubaplyr, probably easy to figure the last part. tuba player. what can i say i love horns! lne is for Lincoln Northeast High. my high school. GO NORTHEAST!!! ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  9. mosta you guys have been talking about melting the speakers. one of my very stupid friends took 2 pioneer floor standing speakers 2 bose speakers (hehe.) and 2 infinity outrigers. he hooked um up to a pioneer stereo receiver. 2 channels. ran all 6 speakers off 2 channels that could only supply about 50 wpc. and turned it up really really loud. it with stood for about 2 or 3 months. and one night at a party......can you say FIRE!?!?!?! the reciever caught on fire. it started to melt within itself! when the smoke cleared........the hole front of the reciver was melted.........musta been the bose huh? just to say that its not always the speakers getting hurt. its the amps some times too............ ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  10. Hey, good luck justin, im sure everything will come out alright. i was just reading the posts on this topic and i thought it was amazing how much people care for each other on this forum, just knowing each other over the internet, and yet we feel sadness for people that we don't even really know. Long live klipshers! ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  11. OMG! 16 pages!!!! STOP THE MADNESS!!!! ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  12. what happens if you lets say attach the neg of the amp to the pos of the speaker and vica versa? ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  13. dunno about all you but i love my Lincoln Continental. i can fit my scalas in the trunk and listen to them on the road!!! i don't like the cars you have to fold your self into 20 little peice just to fit in the seat. i like the big relaxed luxury cars. ill take my lincoln over a honda anyday..........and i don't think we should talk about ride either. with a fully automatic leveling system i can ride in style and still push a 1/4 mile in 13.45 sec. and pull a trailer! LOL. here comes the american luxury vs. (others) luxury. MAY THE BEST CAR WIN! LOL Rob ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  14. i would have to dissagree about the mag. field amps sounding bad on large klipsch. i have that little cube that doens't get hot (for some reason...i never found the answer to that question) but it sounds pretty good. i have only hooked my scalas up to a pioneer reciver and the carver blows it away. so watch what you say about carverIMG]http://216.37.9.58/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm23.gif or i will make it catch on fire in front of your house! i musta got one that doesn't explode......so far anyway Rob ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
  15. Right now my industrial scalas are set right next to each other because of lack of space. but i still listen to them daily. does this affect their sound? will they sound different once they are moved back apart? Thanx ------------------ My 2 cents... I'll put it on your tab.
