oogins
I saw Metallica's Black Album on DVD-A yesterday. Upon examining the package, I noticed its encoded in DVD-A 6 Channel and DD 5.1. Does this mean that I don't need a DVD-A player, and that I can listen to it in DD 5.1 on my normal DVD player? ------------------ -Paul My Computer Speaker Setup: Receiver: Kenwood VR-409 (soon to be Denon 3802) Front: Klipsch Quintet Satellites Center: Klipsch Quintet Center Surround: Klipsch Quintet Satellites Sub: Sony SA-W305 (soon to be SVS 25-31PC or SVS 25-31CS)
eq_shadimar
Yes most DVD-A's also have a DD 5.1 "secondary" track that can be read by most normal DVD players. However there are a couple of things to remember when doing this. 1) You will not get the benefits of the extended bit rates and frequency range 2) The menuing flags are a little different so you may have some problems navigating the disc. oogins
Thanks! I'm not really worried about the extended bit rates and frequency range since I only have Quintets. When I get some reference speakers then I'll worry about getting a DVD-A player to take advantage of the higher resolution sound. ------------------ -Paul My Computer Speaker Setup: Receiver: Kenwood VR-409 (soon to be Denon 3802) Front: Klipsch Quintet Satellites Center: Klipsch Quintet Center Surround: Klipsch Quintet Satellites Sub: Sony SA-W305 (soon to be SVS 25-31PC or SVS 25-31CS)
