Tex
I just bought the Rf-83 towers and the Rf-64 center. I am using my old Rf-3's for my surrounds and have not upgraded my sub. Right now I am using a Denon AVR 2802 to power everything. I love my new speakers but want to get the most out of them. I am more concerned with music than movies. What do you recommend I buy to get the most out of my new speakers? My budget is around $2,000 and I don't mind used equipment. My hardware knowledge is limited since I'm new to all this. Any advise on what I should buy would be greatly appreciated.
easylistener
I would get an amp. You can use your receiver for pre/pro duty. I would recomand Rotel, Parasound, Aragon, B&K etc. I would not get anything less then 200 wpc. This will get you the biggest bang for the buck. You will use the new amp as you main left and Right channels. This will also free up some power from the receiver for movie duties as well. It is kind of a double bonus. Jay481985
A big question is do you need all the power, more so, do you listen to volumes loud? Also another route is to use the preouts on the 2802 and buy a pro amp like QSC PLX2 or Crown to supply all the power you need. They are cheaper than the home theater versions and sound as good or better than many too. They just have a fan that is quiet though some might not want it. Arky
I recently bought the QSC plx-2402. Very musical & the fan is a non issue at any appreciable listening volume.
Fish
I'd look at Outlaw, Emotiva, and if you can rake up a few more hundred the Rotels,as a start. The Denons a good generic sounding unit but is weak in 2ch,due to the preamp section.
