Ubids crazy ways

Finally a UBid screw up in my favor! cwm9.gif I recently bought a lemon HK reciever from them. I will be sending it back as soon as the UPS prepaid shipping thingy arrives. I've been scouring the net again in search of a decent HT reciever for around $500. The only ones that I really liked were the yamahas because of their "loudness switch" but a bit too much money for me to be spending right now.

I got this rather strange email from Ubid yesterday.

Dear Valued uBid Customer:

You recently placed a winning bid on uBid.com. We would

like to inform you that we are currently upgrading our order

processing system to better serve you. A small percentage

of orders that were converted to the new system did not

update in a timely manner.

We are re-entering your order and no action will be

required on your part. During this process, your "My Page"

will display the original order as cancelled. Because the

new order is being manually created it will take 7 business

days to appear on your My Page.

The new order will be issued with free shipping due to this

delay. We anticipate all items will be delivered no later

than November 30, 2001.

If you decide to cancel this order, please respond to us

by November 19 at maimailto:Order_cancellation@cs.ubid.com

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused

and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

uBid Customer Care

"UBid customer care" is a big time oxymoron! Tipsy.gif

It seems that I actually won one of the Onkyo 787's I had bid on back in mid October! At that time they told me I had been outbid. They're just getting around to telling me now almost a month later. Confused.gif

Normally I'd be furious that they are placing this $500+ item back on my account as an active order awaiting credit card processing. However, their timing couldn't be any better and with the free shipping ($46) I'm digging this! As long as I don't get another refurbished Ubid Lemon ...cwm23.gif

Too bad the K/K did not work out for you. The 510 is an awesome HT Rcvr. Maybe a 510 from OneCall.com would be an option--the are on special now for $575 and still showing availability. Maybe a bit more than you want to spend but still a relatively decent deal. I think it even includes free FedEx shipping.

Any, just my 2 cents worth...

no offense to the hk and the 510 owners out here but I would not buy another again or another hk product for that matter. that's not saying all hk is bad ...that's saying the hk product i had was. shame on me if I let myself get boned again.
