shimband
I was looking at the Sony receiver STR-DE1075....this does not have the virtual matrix 6.1.....I'm just learning about the 6.1......which is the better way to go 6.1 or 6.1 virtual matrix? Thanks, Mike

Thanks, Mike If I were you, I'd start looking at the Sony STR-DB1070 as it's a better receiver than the DE series. You can get them at OneCall.com for $549 or maybe lower. Do a couple searches for it and you'll see. Check reveiws for past versions such as the DB940 or DB930. ------------------ Bob Lindabury SPEAKERS Fronts: Cornwalls (2) Center: KLF-C7 (1) Rears: RS-3's (2) Sub: AudioSource SW-15 Rear Center: Umm...any suggestions? avman
i'm thoroughly enjoying the recent upgrade i made to include vm6.1...consider room width, if it's wide, then an ACTUAL center rear would be a good choice, but adds the cost of a center rear. my ht room is 12ft.wide in the primary area,w/the rears 12ft apart, and vm6.1 does a GREAT job of simulating a center rear. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds sony strda-777ES receiver upgraded to v.2.02 including virtual matrix 6.1 sony playstation 2 dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder pioneer dvd player sharp 32"tv and sharp xv-z1u lcd projector panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire a 'teens' sub coming!(RSW-15 LOOKIN'GOOD!) soundog
Not a lot of movies are available in 6.1 Dolby EX or DTS ES which are encoded with a rear channel. However many receivers including my Outlaw 1050 will extract a rear channel from 5.1 material. Dolby encodes it's rear channel using a prologic style matrix and just as with PLII additional channels can be extracted from sources recorded with less channels. I have found, however, those with the specific designation have the most dramatic rear channel effects. ------------------ Soundog's HT Systems
