QUiKSR20
Hey guys I currently have SB-3s for my mains on 21 inch wood tech stands and i have a KSW-12 now my question is should i run the SB-3s as large or small in my current setup? They are currently set to small. and sound great so i think will they sound better or if i set them to large will they put out too much of the bass that was meant for the sub? or will the sub only get what its suppose to get anyway because its on the LFE channel? Im a newbie and just trying to setup my system the best I can. The sub is hooked up through the sub out on my SONY STR-DE975 I use this setup for 2 channel audio and my hometheatre with my rears being Quintetts and they are set to small as well. Thanks for your time guys.. ------------------ Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page This message has been edited by QUiKSR20 on 12-04-2001 at 11:12 AM
dougdrake2
Daryl - My opinion would be to set all speakers to small. Your SB-3s are great, but only go down to the mid-50hz range. If set to large, your Sony will send all front channel bass signals to them (even the 25hz ones) and not to the sub. The only action the sub will see is from the center, rear, and LFE (and not alot of bass is in those channels usually anyway. So, I think you risk missing a lot of the first octave of bass with the SB-3s set to large, plus you will be working them pretty hard. QUiKSR20
Thanks Doug thats kinda what i figured but its always nice to hear a second opinion Ill keep all set to small It sounds great already as is.. and my room isnt too big so the KSW-12 fills it nice ( 14x13 ) Daryl ------------------ Thanks, Daryl Gregg MY Home Theatre Page
