4.1 and Audigy Gamer

Do I config WinXP with "4 speaker" or "5.1 speaker"? I have SB Audigy Gamer card. I heard that the ProMedia 4.1 Supports 5.1 sound.

nope it is a 4.1 speaker system, 4 sats (surrounds) and one sub (LFE). what you have heard about is the phantom center brought to you by the excellent imaging created by the horn tweeters. if you have the speakers positioned correctly and you are listening to your pros, it can put sound that SEEMS like it is coming from a "Phantom Center". it is a very nice effect.

set your card to 4.1, the 5.1 will only hamper your sound if anything, unless you get the ProMedia 5.1's of course

Thanks. I don't know much and the manual is soo weak. I get the feeling I'm dealing with analog, not digital. We'll see if I can game in 3D audio.

yeah, i had made a manual for teh v2.400 through the 5.1's and wa JUST abuot to publish on my website, had allready put up the section, and on AIM and my computer crashed when it was being turned into PDF... well i lost all of it but the first like 8 pages
