Need Advice on Receiver for Home Theatre

I currently have a Mits 57831 HDTV and I'm in the process of obtaining RF 82 fronts, RC 62 center and the RS 52 surrounds. My receiver is an older Onkyo TX-SR600 rated at 80 watts per channel. Will the receiver I have drive the speaker I'm obtaining okay, without damaging the speakers, until I purchase a new receiver? Also, what new receiver in the $500 - $700 dollar range would you recommend I consider? I listen primarily to movies, DVDs and just a small amount of music. Thanks in advance!

Ron, welcome to the forum.

Because Klipsch speakers are so efficient, your receiver will drive your new speaks just fine. However, depending on how old said receiver is and what its capable of(DD,DTS,etc) it may or may not be what you want. Try it out and see how it sounds, you will not damage the speakers at normal volumes, just don't crank the snot of it as it may clip and this may potentially harm the speakers.

One can purchase an excellent receiver these days for quite cheap. Depending on bells and whistles and WPC...expect to pay $700(less on a sale or older model that has what you want) and up for a good one. Some well regarded names here are, HK,Yamaha,Denon, Pioneer Elite.

Hope this helps, you are gonna love your new speaks!
