doctorcilantro
Got some static on the right RF-7 tweeter, in addition to the tube hiss that is usually present there and on the left. Here' what I have done so far: Switched the power tubes between amps > static remains. Replaced with a new 12AX7 on offending channel > static remains. Switched RCA cables outputs at preamp > static moved to opposite channel. Switched RCA cable outputs to Main Out 2 (in same L/R config)> Static remains on opposite channel. STATIC IS PRESENT WITH PREAMP IN ALL MODES: CD/TUNER/PHONO ETC. It seems like the preamp is to blame, but I don't know this stuff well enough. Is there one tube (1 of the 3 6922s) that would be in use for all the modes? thanks DC
Speedball
Switched RCA cables outputs at preamp > static moved to opposite channel. (Not being an owner of any tube gear so take this with a grain of salt) I'm guessing the preamp from what you say right there. Someone else will know for sure.
