KSF 8.5 questions -- reducing the 'boominess'..

I recently picked up a pair of Klipsch KSF 8.5 towers at the local authorized Klipsch retailer on clearance, thus upgrading a pair of KSB 3.1 bookshelf speakers. Many hours have been spent "breaking in" these speakers and they sound pretty good, especially at the price point paid. It is apparent that location makes a fairly significant impact in the "boominess" of the bass in these speakers. Even at moderate volumes, the boominess can almost become overpowering after some time when listening to music. Any suggestions? They are currently along a short wall with nine foot ceilings, and carpeted flooring. Additionally, any insight or suggestions for placement, mods, or setup would be greatly appreciated.

Music tastes are blues, southern rock, and some jazz.

Current system consists of:

Integra DTR-5

KSF 8.5

KSC C1

KSB 1.1

Mirage FRX s10

std Monster inconnects and cables
