Windstorm
Does anybody know of any software package that can model sound dispersion in a room, given, say, a CAD drawing? It would be the bomb for finding speaker placement... ------------------ Caring is the first step toward disappointment.
Seb
progs like that exist, for sure. but they're quite expensive, to my knowledge, and since there's always going to be variables that are going to be left out, nothing replaces good ol' experimentation. it's true that knowing your room modes and how you could optimally deal with standing waves would give you a good head start for speaker placement, but in most cases you're restricted by practicality before acoustics neways... interesting though, if anyone can find a good lil' prog to do that, I'd be very interested for I'm moving the home theater in a new room and I can basically put it wherever I want! Windstorm
I'd imagine it would be pretty expensive... and CPU hungry as well. It would still be neat to get something like that thoughm just to experiment, if nothing else. ------------------ Caring is the first step toward disappointment. Sam_D
That's what "demo" versions are for!
Seb
well there aren't always demo versions for this kind of professional software...
Baz
Check out his page http://www.wssh.net/~wattsup/audio/ Look for "Room Optimizer" and "Visual ears" (+ there seems to be quite a lot of other audio related shtuff there) Good or not?? I don't know. I just did a quick search and that's where i ended up. I quickly tried Visual Ears demo (didn't get to far), to bad you can't input room dimensions in the demo. (MAYBEE THERE'S A CRACK) not just VE but there must be some soft. out there along with an EEEVIIILLL twin crack brother. I didn't search it any further, NOT T'ILL I GET CAAABBBLE. Ordered it last week
