amp/pre voltage input/output match problem?

i've been using a marantz ma6100 mono amp for my rear center until it started cutting out at higher input/output recently. seemed it had this burning smell from the start and today looked in it w/ a flashlight & the whichever transformer/solenoid part looked pretty juicy & still that burning smell. looks like plastic meltdown.

i'm using a B&K ref 30 pre/pro to feed it that has

a max output of 3v. the ma6100 has an input sensitivity of 1v. on the face, is the B&K too much for it or is there pretty much compatability &/or protections for most pre/pro & amp matchups???

maybe it was just a defective unit but i'm scared when i get a replacement or fixed ma6100 back, the B&K will fry it. i do have to bump up the level for it by 4 or 5db to match the other 5 speaks driven by the more powerful acurus A200X5. thanks.
