brennyE
Hi all, At the moment i am having a difficult time finding out how to make a Low pass filter for my subwoofers. I know i have seem the equation in a book somewhere that tells you how much inductance you need, but I cant seem to find it. I was looking at a set 60hz pass to place in the signal stage, before the amplifier. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as my subs are arriving soon and if I dont have the Low pass ready, I will be stuck with a 150hz low pass! Thanks in advance!! mowntnbkr
I am still too young to have that problem, but I have older sibling that are experiencing the same thing.............Sorry, had to do it with that thread title.

djk
http://www.passlabs.com/downloads/articles/phasecrx.pdf The inductor values for a 60hz low-pass are not practical. As we can see from the NP article, the 12dB low-pass with only RC is not practical either (this is what's in the F-Mod). You can buy an OK electronic crossover so cheap these days, it's not really work messing with it.

DrWho
Interesting article Dennis...and lots of other great stuff on that sight as well [Y] I think Brenny was talking about building his own linelevel crossover to go before his amplifier. A very crude, but possible approach would be to use the amp's input impedance as the load for calculating the cap and inductor you'd need. But it's not exactly the best approach... There's all sorts of projects here you might consider: http://sound.westhost.com/projects-3.htm
