AAAAAAHHHHH!!!

the distortion is horrible!!

there is so much distortion in the treble it's unbearable in "white wedding"...

i don't like it.

I just tried out that plugin. I did not experience any distortion in the treble like what Seb said. Indeed the midrange has opened up a bit, but i still prefer tweaking the winamp EQ for a midrange boost. It makes the sound more cleaner and precise then using that preset imo. The EQ i'm using looks like this for those that are interested...:

I use that kind of configuration also on the winamp eq, but in a less exaggerated manner.

i boost the midrange only a couple bars from 0.

the reason, dman, may be just because your mp3s are of bad quality, badly ripped or too low bitrate.

also dman, don't pump up the volume on winamp itself, that could make everything sound crappy, also make sure you're system volume is down to about %50 or so. then let the pm's volume do the rest.

I think you're right seb. I've tried everything, adjusting all volume controls, etc but with some mp3's (mostly encoded at 160 kbps or less) I can't use the eq even a little bit without static. Anyway, that plugin distorted my sound too.
