luckasaaron
Okay I'll be posting some of the pictures I took shortly, as per some requests. These really aren't all that great but they're something, I guess if anyone went it would definitely remind you of the day. The really good shots were done with a old school 35mm, so I'll get those at some point.
luckasaaron
Sorry some of these are pretty scratchy. The quality once it gets dark starts diminishing pretty quickly. Pretty self explanatory View from our seats (sold out in 15 mins.) Bill Murray doing his best rendition of "Gloria" The crowd helped out with this, and then Mr. Clapton came out and finished for him. Left side of stage. Sonny Landreth on the Jumbotron or whatever the correct term is. In between sets. Mr. John McLaughlin Close up of John McLaughlin Doyle Bramhall II They were absolutely amazing, and the drummer on the right is seen again when he plays with John Mayer The Derek Trucks band. Derek Trucks and his wife. She had an amazing voice and rocked just as hard as anyone there. Robert Randolph and the Family Band. They played with just tons of energy. Jimmy Vaughn Jimmy Vaughn and Hubert Sumlin (top hat and blue picnic shirt) John Mayer, say what you want but the "puffy haired kid from Conneticut" can flat out cook on guitar. Vince Gill and too many other people on stage. This one is pretty simple. Beer. Vince Gill and Sheryl Crow Los Lobos. The guy in the blue looks like a math teacher not a rock star, but they brought a cool element to the concert with some of their songs in Spanish. Jeff Beck and Tal Wilkenfield Horrible picture of Jeff Beck from the concession stand. Nightfall in Bridgeview Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall, Mr. Clapton and the rest of the Eric Clapton Band. I might have been just as hazy as this point *disclaimer* not smoking, just ten dollar beers. Buddy Guy and his band. The End. Go buy the DVD and check it out yourself. colterphoto1
Great photos and captions- thanks for posting. I caught part of this on PBS the other night and thought 'WOW, what an amazing lineup- that would for sure be a show to catch if I could'. Glad one of us got to go and was cool enough to share the experience. Did you catch Johnny Winter playing with Trucks? I've never seen Derek smile like he did when he was playing dualing slides with the master from the Lone Star State! Thanks for sharing- Michael
