Kain
I am having a very VERY hard time on deciding on which to get. A Panasonic TH-42PW4 Plasma TV or a Sony VPL-VW11HT LCD Projector. If you had the choice, and money was not of concern, which would you pick and why. ------------------ Home Theater: TV: Panasonic TH-42PW4 (42" 16:9 Plasma) Receiver: Denon AVC-A11SR (230V version of Denon AVR-4802) DVD Player: Sony DVP-S9000ES VCR: Sony SLV-ED100 (Hi-Fi VCR) Center: Klipsch RC-7 Mains: Klipsch RF-7s Surrounds: Klipsch RS-7s Subwoofer: SVS CS-Ultra w/Samson S1000 amplifier
P Ward
I think you know my answer. FRONT PROJECTION!!!!!!!! Have you demoed any? The order in which I watch the most, 50% regular tv (digital 4:3), 30% satalite (digital 4:3), 10% HDTV (digital 16:9), and 10% dvd (50% wide screen and 50% 4:3), with some analog tv. I looked at a 16:9 projector but most of my watching is still in 4:3 so that what I got. No expense came into the equation. ------------------ Paul Ward my home theater www.brookesbakersurveyors.com/klipschht.htm
Kain
How big is your screen and how far do you sit from it? I Home Theater room is small, roughly about 14 feet by 14 feet and my sitting distance is about 12 feet from the screen. People say I should go with a Plasma TV because of my small room is short sitting distance. What do you say? ------------------ Home Theater: TV: Panasonic TH-42PW4 (42" 16:9 Plasma) Receiver: Denon AVC-A11SR (230V version of Denon AVR-4802) DVD Player: Sony DVP-S9000ES VCR: Sony SLV-ED100 (Hi-Fi VCR) Center: Klipsch RC-7 Mains: Klipsch RF-7s Surrounds: Klipsch RS-7s Subwoofer: SVS CS-Ultra w/Samson S1000 amplifier
avman
if money is not an issue, DO BOTH! use the plasma for 'casual' tv watching, or when light conditions demand, and the projector for the 'big picture'. i'm using my 36xbr for hd and 'casual' tv watching, or when absolute clarity is more important than a big picture, and the projector for big picture impact. the sony projector you mention would have me watching the big picture that much more-it's hd capable, and has a great picture! be sure to check throw distance/vs./picture size, and check the review on sharp's new dlp projector model 9000 b4 you buy anything. the new sony 60" 16:9 'grand wega' lcd rear projection tv is AWESOME, and costs half of what a hd 50" plasma would, the sony is about 8k. avman. ------------------ 1-pair klf 30's c-7 center ksps-6 surrounds RSW-15 on the way!! sony strda-777ES receiver upgraded to v.2.02 including virtual matrix 6.1 sony playstation 2 sony dvpnc 650-v 5-disc dvd/cd/SACD changer dishnetwork model 7200 dishplayer satellite receiver/digital bitstream recorder sony kv36xbr450 high-definition 4:3 tv sharp xv-z1u lcd projector panamax max dbs+5 surge protector/power conditioner monster cable interconnects/12 gua.speaker wire KLIPSCH-So Good It Hz!
