a_d_a_m
Some sort of fibre I assume... what would it be? How durable... I want to crank my speakers to 100%... I need to get it louder and louder because I am getting deaf My sub enclosure shakes a lot! Even when at 33% audio volume.
Movie Freak
Check this out, it doesn't really help you out with your question, but it sure is interesting to see! It's the installation of a fan in the sub enclosure and you get to see all of the guts without taking apart your baby. http://www.angelfire.com/az3/klipschmod/ Enjoy! ------------------ Movies take us to a place we would like to be and away from a place we would like to forget. a_d_a_m
That's all nice but what is the cone made of in the sub?
JakeJeckel
Looks to be some composite material of some sort. I wouldn't be worried about breaking the cone. Maybe overheating the voice-coil though. dunno...

rol1
JakeJeckel, would it benefit cooling to mount the amp/back in a seperate box and fab a new back for the sub?
Paragon
It would cause you could have somewhat of an open box for the amp so the air current is more over the amp. Would also help the sub because there would be more air volume to move around. Not a bad idea, you would only need ot have the Sub power between the two boxes so would have to get some nice cable. ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID FOP38 & CuShim Kingmax 256MB PC150 Annihilator2 32MB GTS Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 & Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A Sony 12X DVD SBLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W Sony CPD-G400 19" Triny ACS295
