searayrunner
The RMS for the RS 10's is 50 watts does this mean they could be overloaded by my amp at 90 watts to the rears? Same for the RS 42, yet they state 75 RMS for these. Also is there a large difference in sound from these two? The size of the RS 10 is what i really want to go with but not if their not compatible or the sound quality is way off.
Moderators Youthman Posted February 20, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 20, 2008 50 watts of unclean power will do more damage than 90 watts of clean power. Just because you have 90 watt receiver doesn't mean that you have to feed them the full 90. 90 watt receiver turned down would sound better than 50 watt receiver maxed out. I know that isn't very technical but does that make sense? []
Bill H.
Welcome to the Madness. Klipsch are so efficient you should Not have any problems. searayrunner
Bill...thank you for the Welcome this site has a wealth of knowledge and is an awesome resource! am i understanding this correctly... 90 watts is being produced at the 0db setting which i have never been up to. Watch most movies a -30 db and music at -20 db or less. So if i keep the voloume low i will be ok? Thanks
Moderators Youthman Posted February 20, 2008 Moderators Share Posted February 20, 2008 Yes, your receiver will be fine with the. You can always turn down the rear channels if you feel that they are receiving too much power. I'm not sure about the 0db part. Someone more technical than I would have to address that.
