A first impression of Klipsch Reference.

They have arrived and have been set up for my personal review. First off let me say people who think Sony and Klipsch are not a good mix have me wondering where that ever came from? Perhaps it's a dislike for the name more than the performance? Mixing reference Klip's and reference Sony Amps has produced results much higher than even expected. In my sig. you'll see what I have in my system and I was more than amazed at the clarity and power these speakers delivered on the mediums I did try. I listened to satellite radio on my PVR and the sound was just wonderful compared to my old Cerwin Vega system, and the bass, well... that was a far cry harder and deeper then even my 15" CV subwoofer could hit. Next I tried a few blu-rays out and was further amazed that I had to turn down the subs because the bass was too much, shook the walls around me just a bit too hard to sound cool. For music I could set the sub to 0 dB and for movies I had to turn it down to -9 dB to get the balance.... no complaints about too much bass though :). Some fine tweaking as soon as I learn how dto do that should improve things even more.

The packaging for the speakers is very, very well done with bags for the speakers and even the grilles! There were nice black folders in every box with documents inside save the sub, which was in plastic bags but still packaged well. I can't seem to get the grilles off the subs though and have given up for fear of breaking something. The one problem I have is the digital display on one of the subs seems messed up somehow with a line or two fo dots missing so we'll see if that goes away and if not... back it goes to the store.

I will post some pics of the set up in the next day or so when the photographer wife gets to taking some nice ones. Thats all for now but thanks Klipsch for making such a great product and here's to hoping that even more amazement comes with years of happy ownership.

Congrats on your new setup! I know that I have commented against Sony ES systems with Klipsch. I demoed the RF-82's with the RC-62 (rears and sub I cannot remember which models they had connected) and I just wasn't that impressed with the sound quality. It all looked very nice in the rack, they seemed like they were a good A/V Specialist, I just wasn't wowed by the sound at all.

All that really matters is that it sounds good to you and that's awesome that you are happy with your current Sony setup. Will save you money instead of having to buy another one. Enjoy and post some pics.
