New Daddy/Old Daddy
I hope somone won't mind offering some help. My receiver has impedance settings. One requires a minimum of 6 ohms per speaker for one set of speakers and 12 for two sets. The other minimums are 4 ohm per for one set, 8ohm for two. Is there any advantage to a 6 ohm setting for the RF-62s? Otherwise, I will probably just play around with my old pair as 'B' speakers. Many Thanks, OD/ND
Islander
You likely have a Yamaha receiver. It's recommended that in all cases you use the high setting, typically 8 ohm for your front speakers. If you do a Google search for Yamaha impedance switch, or even a search on this site, you'll find some discussions on it. Basically, using the lower impedance setting just lowers the output voltage of the amp, causing compromised bass response.
New Daddy/Old Daddy
Thanks so much for responding. Yep, a Yamaha. I guessed the higher setting was there for a reason, but the manual and tech help where I bought it didn't provide the answer. I will check this site further (my Google attempt was much too broad) []
