chudmaster
If i got my hands on a 5.1 GMX control pod, would i be able to use that for my 5.1 ultras. I ask because i want to use it to convert the optical signal from my 360 to give signal to the speakers.
dgoreck
From the looks of the GMX manual, seeing the connections on it, vs the ultra's. I would say, No. The GMX module has the inputs on it(like you want), but uses a DIN uplink back to the subwoofer to send all the audio signals to be amplified. The Ultra's have the 3 1/8" jack inputs for the 5.1 input. The Ultra's control module uses a din connection to the control unit, but doesn't carry any of the signal per-say(just headphone?), its more just for volume/sginal adjustment. The ultra's get in input fromt he 1/8" jacks. If you have both in hand, are the DIN connecters even the same? I would assume the decoding is actually done by the sub-amp plate on the GMX system, and thus a digital/analog steam is sent over the connector from the control module. The Ultra'ts lack this. Best bet is a a DD-5.1 or some other surround processor like a Technics SH-AC500D. I have both, but use the later on my Ultra's.
