michaelstano
If a woofer center is dented but not punctured, will the sound be affected? Is the only issue cosmetic? What would a new woofer for a KG 2.2 cost? Could one replace only one woofer, or should the woofer in the other speaker be replaced as well? TIA. Guest BobG
The thingy in the center is called a dust cap and as the name implies, the purpose is to keep dust and other junk out of the magnetic gap where the voice coil resides. A dent is purely cosmetic unless it impedes the smooth motion of the driver; and that would have to be one heck of a dent. No reason to replace the woofer unless you are losing sleep over it and then only replace the one. Call 800-klipsch for a price quote or, working very carefully, pull the dent out using duct tape, a vacuum cleaner or even by gluing a match stick to the center of the dent and then pulling out on it. Just be careful to avoid doing more harm than good.

kenratboy
I listen with my grills of, and my dust caps are like blister-pack material, soft and thin, I am ready for the day where one of my "not to be mentioned" family members hits it and does it in. Why can't they make dust caps harder?
sanchez44
a vacum sounds like a good idea, duct tape may not come unstuck without leaving adhesive.
ShapeShifter
If one uses duct tape, I suggest using a hand held blow dryer to apply light to moderate heat when removing the tape. This will help ensure that little to no adhesive residue will remain on the caps. This method can also be used to remove tape from finished and glass surfaces as well. ------------------ "KLIPSCH IS MUSIC"f>
