How to balance from Speakers to Subwoofer - level adjustment wise

So, I have my Heresy II's connected to a Scott 299-D. I use the center out(line level) to feed a singal to my subwoofer.

Now, sub sounds good. Maybe a little boomy or bassy. I have the crossiver set at 80Hz. Now, I've tried to adjust the level(volume) and its decent, but I like I said, it maybe to loud.

For those of you who have similair setups, how do you balance the sub output vs the speaker output. Would using some sort of sweep from like 20-200Hz be the best thing, and I can see if I get a bump when it kicks in/over to the sub.

Thanks,

Dan

I don't have Heresy's but here's what I did. I ran my 12 off the receivers x over at 80hz. But the RW10, that one was a little tricky. Not only to get it to blend good with the main's but also with the sub 12. So I sat in my listening position, and had a buddy adjust the x over on the amp (of the 10) until it sounds good. All in alll it took us about an hour til I was happy with it. Good luck!
