Hi gang,
You may have noticed a bunch of topics here and in some of the other forums with a left arrow next to them. That means the topic has been moved. Most of the threads like that have been moved to the Off Topic forum, because that's where they belong. The left-arrow threads are temporary placeholders that link to the thread in its new home. (The placeholders disappear after 14 days to keep things tidy)
You can help your fellow Audio nut by keeping your topics here and in the other forum relevant to the Forum Title. This particular forum is for general Klipsch questions that don't fit in the other, more specific forums. It helps us by not having to move so many.
Thanks for your help.
Chad
EDIT: Since this seems to be a controversial subject to some (I'm not really sure why it's SO controversial, but I digress), I though I'd open it up to a poll to get a general consensus. It's an unscientific poll, mind you.... So vote away!

Does this mean Parrot and the other miscreants have been given amnesty?
I can forgive and welcome back just about everyone but Clarence.
the answer to this question (in regards to Parrot at least) is no.

When posting a new Topic, you can use Topic Tags to help categorize things. This helps you and others easily find similar posts by clicking tags in the sidebar on the forum index page. It also helps with searching.
You can add a little more awesomeness by making the first tag entered on the topic be the topic tile prefix, like I've done in this very topic.
That prefix shows up on topic lists.
Pretty cool, huh?

If you find you cannot log in even after following the instructions on the Login form about resetting your password, here's what you can try (in this order):
- Check your email spam folder.
- Add "forums-no-reply@klipsch.com" to your email contacts
- Try again and wait at least an hour.
- If all else fails, email me directly at chad(dot)wells (at) klipsch (dot) com from the email account you used to sign up with.

I suspect there is a version-feature compatibility mismatch between Windows and Outlook. What a pain.
Windows 7 was and still is very stable. Are you able to upgrade to that? I think you can still buy that at various places online such as Newegg.com.

One thing I just noticed missing which the old forum had is a "Member Online" status, you can see if the member is ON or OFFLINE by cursing over their name, it was just nice to be able to see it at a glance. If possible this would be a nice addition.
I can see this all the way at the bottom. Unless it's an admin thing only?
It's not an admin only thing. I think what he's talking about is showing the online tag right next to the member name everywhere, which frankly would just clutter everything up. There are already other ways to see who is currently online.

I've just added this gallery category. Show off your Home Theater setups! As an experiment, I've also added a preview section just below the "Home theater" forum on the main index.

Every tiem that I use IE on an older computer it slows it down, even after I close it out. I have to dump all off the temporary memory and it is a real pain. This even happned on a Windows 8 machine. No viruses so I don't know why, except that it is in MS's best interest to make computers get slower over time to force you to "upgrade" to a newer machine and their new OS.
I switched to Firefox and it is much faster and works well, except that MS outlook will not launch Firefox, so I cannot launch the internet from my emails. This really stinks because I need to regularly "unsubscribe" from junk email.
Anyone know how to fix this? I have to use outlook as I hahve years of emaisl and need to be able to organize them.
Make sure Firefox is set as your default web browser In firefox, choose Tools>Options>Advanced and click the button that says "Make Firefox the default browser" . You can also fine-tune what it opens by default by going into your Control Panel in Windows and Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs. Choose Firefox from the left column and choose "Choose Defaults for this program". From there you can change the settings.
IMO, Google Chrome seems to be the best of the 3 major browsers in terms of speed and stability. YMMV though.
As far as IE, the web developer in me HATES IE for many reasons. However, they really have improved it with version 10+.

If you find yourself having to log in to the forums daily even if you have "remember me" checked, try deleting your browser cookies for this site. That seems to solve the issue.

Both of those things already exist.
Pagination links are already above and below paginated content.
You can skip to past page or first page by clicking the double-angle-bracket pagination links.

That's not missing.. in fact you can do this already. Just hover over a member name.

It would be nice to have the root page list all forums without a user having to scroll to see them all. Often, we jump back to the root to see if there has been activity in a sub-forum. It would be nice to do so at a quick glance without having to scroll. But maybe there's a new feature that effectively does the same thing which I haven't seen yet.
Not sure if this is what you are talking about, but there is a quick-navigation button, near the top of every page, right next to "View New Content". Looks like a Google Maps pin, sorta.
No. What I am describing is something I have never seen in any forum software. When you navigate to the root, it shows a long list of available forums..... too long a list to see on one page. This list contains the names of many forums I never go into. I have a few favorites, and that's it. It would be cool to allow a user setting so that on the root page, I see the ones I want to see at the top. That way, I don't have to navigate all the way down to the bottom to navigate into one of my favorite forums.
In other words, there is too much scrolling to navigate around from forum to forum.
Come to think of it, I think I have seen some forums with a "Quick Jump to Forum" drop down box at the top of each page. You can select from that drop-down box and go immediately to your preferred forum.
Aha, you do have a quick navigation button (looks like a light bulb up there). Problem is you have to scroll too much in it because the tree nodes are expanded. You should set them to collapsed to fit all main groups on 1 page. Then user can single-click main group to see sub-forums and pick one. 2 clicks - no scrolling. Much better.
Light bulb; Google Maps Pin, what's the difference?
That may improve over time. I do know they have a major new version of this software coming relatively soon, so maybe it will include more customizable things like the quick-navigation menu. Otherwise I have to spend a bunch of time writing some custom plugins. My plate is already pretty full. We'll get to some of these things eventually. Keep the suggestions coming!

Hi,
There is always the search function to find something you may be looking for. Otherwise, the purpose of the separate forums is to reduce clutter and keep things in their place. This is how forums are really supposed to work. No reason to have a bunch of topics about dogs or cars or beer in a forum about home theater setups

OK, I've added a bunch more emoticons.

I see that but was wondering how to quote a certain portion of your post and give that a thumbs up.
When you vote a post up or down, does it state who rated it?
Ah.. I see what you are talking about.
Unfortunately, it's for a whole post, not just part of a post.
And I just noticed that you can't see who voted your posts up/down, but I think it would be nice to see so I'm turning that option on.

Thumbs up and thumbs down would be nice again.
Just use the reputation point vote up/down links. It's better that way
How would I do that in this instance where I wanted to thumbs up your quote?
There should be upvote/downvote icons in the lower-right corner of my post.

Trying to ensure things in other forums stay on-topic.
http://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/forum/98-off-topic/
Would appreciate our SPAM PATROL/Mods to assist in moving old threads from 2 Channel and General Audio (and others) to Off Topic, if relevant (or, uh, irrelevant... whatever) - in your "downtime".
Thanks!
