British scientists have shown in a controlled experiment that the extreme bass sound known as infrasound produces a range of bizarre effects in people including anxiety, extreme sorrow and chills supporting popular suggestions of a link between infrasound and strange sensations. NORMALLY YOU cant hear it, Richard Lord, an acoustic scientist at the National Physical Laboratory in England who worked on the project, said Monday. Lord and his colleagues, who produced infrasound with a 23-foot (7-meter) pipe and tested its impact on 750 people at a concert, said infrasound is also generated by natural phenomena. Some scientists have suggested that this level of sound may be present at some allegedly haunted sites and so cause people to have odd sensations that they attribute to a ghost our findings support these ideas, said Professor Richard Wiseman, a psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire in southern England. REACTIONS TO INFRASOUND Lord and Wiseman played four contemporary pieces of live music, including some laced with infrasound, at a London concert hall and asked the audience to describe their reactions to the music. The audience did not know which pieces included infrasound, but 22 percent reported more unusual experiences when it was present in the music. Their unusual experiences included feeling uneasy or sorrowful, getting chills down the spine or nervous feelings of revulsion or fear. These results suggest that low frequency sound can cause people to have unusual experiences even though they cannot consciously detect infrasound, said Wiseman, who presented his findings to the British Association science conference. NATURAL PHENOMENON Infrasound is also produced by storms, seasonal winds and weather patterns and some types of earthquakes. Animals such as elephants also use infrasound to communicate over long distances or as weapons to repel foes. So much has been said about infrasound its been associated with just about everything from beam weapons to bad driving. Its wonderful to be able to examine the evidence, said Sarah Angliss, a composer and engineer who worked on the project.

yesterday i had strabismus (lazy eye) corrective surgery. my eyes are all swollen and red. the outer half of my eyes are blood red, and it really looks weird. (ill post pics as soon as i can look into light.) they hurt sooo bad- it hurts to look in just about any direction, and every time i move my eyes, i feel those tiny little stitches. well, thanks for letting me get this out. hehe- i look like this guy

k, i tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, but that didnt work either. any more ideas?

ok, i downloaded the patch(v 1.1). i ran it, but it didnt fix the blue arrows/circles. i looked at the readme and it says: Able to fix the following problems: > Exception error after blue Rockstar load screen fixed. > Error loading saved games fixed. > Mouse sensitivity now saved with other settings. > Option for user to play audio files directly from hard disk.Grand Theft Auto III still requires the presence of the PLAY disc when started. This may give better performance on some machines. > All protection checks (apart from needing PLAY disc to start) removed. Grand Theft Auto III still checks for the presence of the PLAY disc when initially started, and plays audio from the PLAY disc if not found on the hard disk. is there some other patch that i dont know about? thanks again

ive already posted this in the gaming section, but i dont know how many of you look at it, so i am posting it here too. the problem is that the little blue arrows and the blue circles that come up for missions or to get to to the bosses arent appearing. if and when they do appear, they flash up for a fraction of a second. does anyone know of a patch or something that would fix this?? thanks
