  1. Well I cranked it up again and I heard the same crackle. Exactly at 11 db on my receiver. But its only on one side. So could it still be the receiver or do I possibly have a problem with my speaker? Thanks for any help.
  2. Nice pictures.....racks look great.
  3. The synergy in walls were in the home before I moved in so I'm using them as my surround and rears. I noticed they don't sound too good with my RF-5's mainly because I don't even think I hear anything from them. But it just seems a waste not to use them since their pre-wired and ready to be used. Thanks for advice about moving them out a little. I moved them so that the walls no longer reflect the sound. Sounds better but I was a little disappointed the speaker crackled a little when I cranked it to about 11 or 12 db on my receiver. I wonder if any other RF-5 owners have the same problem? I just got my SVS sub wired into the setup and it sound much better.
  4. and if you do choose the HK, you can get it for 699 including shipping and no tax from jandr.com which is a lot cheapter than 1000.
  5. Hey Vital, I just got my RF-5's today and it took about about 8 days for the day I ordered them to the day they arrived. The RF-5's came in doubled boxed and the speakers were in perfect condition. Original papers, boxes and even the plastic seal covering the entire speakers were enclosed. I ended up choosing brandnamez because they were the cheapest compared to other sites and also another forum confirmed a successful buying experience with them. Anyways I hope this helps in your decision. I saved about $600 bucks off of retail. Sam
  6. lol...that would be me taking the picture after finally getting both speakers out of their boxes. They were both double boxed for each speaker and tape was used with out discretion.
  7. Hey guys, Here's a picture of my new home theater system. Thanks for all the help with it. Sony Grand Wega "50" 2 Klipsch RF-5's 4 Klipsch Synergy In walls 1 SVS 20-39 PCi subwoofer (on its way) Harmon Kardon AVR 525 Sony sat HDTV
  8. Hey guys, I finally got my Klipsch RF-5's today. I have a quick question though regarding bi-wiring. Is it better to just buy some bi-wires from my local a/v store or should I go to Home Depot and buy regular 16 gauge speaker wire and connect? Is there a difference that I could tell or is it pointless? Thanks in advance...Imma post some pictures up soon as my battery charges. I'm so excited.
  9. Me too Mike, I just placed my order a week ago and if I knew you were selling it, I'd definietly opt for yours. Good luck selling.
  10. hey b-man before you buy, check out brandnamez.com I just recently ordered my RF-5's from them and I got both for 1079 including shipping. I just checked their website and you can get the RF-7 for about 729 and center channel for 500 something. I believe they are authorized and some other people here have ordered through them prior. Sam
  11. Sweet pictures though, my home theater would be the mini version of that. I'm still waiting for my RF-5's and SVS sub to arrive though.. I'll post some pics when they do. Sony Grand Wega 50 HK AVR-525 Mains:RF-5s Surrounds:Synergy Inwalls (yuck) Rear Surronds:Synergy Inwalls (yuck again) Sub: SVS 20-39 PCi
  12. "just a quick note... the SVS 20-39Pci is actually tuned to 20Hz while the 16-46PCI is the one tuned to 16Hz. The first digit is the tuning point, and the second one is the height (39 inches and 46 inches respectively)" That is correct but you can also have SVS tune your sub down a couple hertz if you like. They say they usually do this for people who buy the 25-31 subs and SVS tunes them down to about 22 hertz. I think thats what he meant by the 20-39 sub tuned to 16 hertz.
  13. I don't know about the best way to do inwalls but I'll tell you a little bit about mine. The previous owner put 4 Klipsch synergy series in walls into the ceiling so I'm using those as my surrounds and rear surrounds. So far the sounds from the in walls are okay at best. Sam

Before you make your final decision check out www.svsubwoofers.com and check out what they got. I just ordered my SVS and from what I've heard, these subwoofers are a pretty good deal for how they perform. I'm sure the plenty SVS sub owners here will confirm this.
  15. Thanks fish, it actually worked with video cables. Still curious tho why component cables wouldn't work. And yes, video was selected for component input. Sam New HK sounds good too.
  16. Hey guys, my HK 525 receiver finally came and I am having a little problem accessing my on screen menu and display system. Basically what I did was connect my receiver (monitor) using component cables to my TV (component-in) and I thought that would enable me to see the on screen menu....Well that didn't work and I'm stumped why it won't work. If you guys have any pointers on what I'm doing wrong...feel free to advise. Thanks in advance. Sam
  17. Where could you possibly hear some SVS subwoofers before buying them?
  18. Welcome to the board...I'm pretty new to this board myself and I have found the people here pretty informative and willing to help. As for the receiver, I myself purchased the Harmon AVR 525 for 699 last week and await its arrival. Its seems to be a good receiver under 700 bucks that provides 7.1 capabilities and enough power to handle your ht needs. However, my situation is reversed from yours in that I've chosen my receiver but still in the process of looking for speakers. Personally, I considered both the RF-5's and RF-7's, but can't really justify the extra 400 bucks per speaker for the RF-7s. (No offense to the RF-7 owners..) I found the Klipsch RF-5's for roughly 1000 for a pair at a authorized dealer and I think I'm going to pick them up this weekend if I can't find a better price. Anyways good luck on your home theater endeavors. Quick question? How much did you pick up the RF-3's for? Thanks
  19. Thanks Bill for all your help. I've decided I'm not even going to look at the sales guy's personal stash. I found a authorized dealer who's willing to sell the rf5's for 1000. This way I don't have any risk and they will be new speakers. Soon to be klipsch owner!
  20. Actually, I would go to the store and pick up the speakers...so no shipping charge. But I'm also interested in the guys speakers because if they are actually really new then it would be a bargain. He said they are in the box, never used with all the papers. Also, doesn't Klipsch have a warranty on the speakers for 5 years no matter where they are purchased?
  21. Sorry Bill for the confusion. Let me clarify. When I called tweeters, the sales rep told me that Tweeters does not have any more new rf-5's in inventory. Only the demos are available now for 475. However, he happened to mention that he had a new pair of rf-5's at his apartment that were "brand new" and willing to part for 950. My line of thinking was the demos are backed by the store (tweeters) and the manufacturer but used...whereas buying from the individual, the warranty might be covered by the manufacturer (I'm not sure if Klipsch covers speakers sold through an unauthorized dealer...in this case an individual) but it is "new." Any advice?
  22. Ok...tweeters does not have any more new klipsch rf5's. They are selling the demos for 475 per speaker and 5 year warranty still applies. Interestingly, one of the salesmen said he happened to have a pair of brand new RF-5s for sale at $950. What do you guys think I should do? Buy the demo speakers at tweeters for 950 or buy a "supposedly new" pair of speakers from the sales guy. Need advice. Thanks
  23. Thanks guys...I've personally never heard of tweeters but now I'm on a mission to find one. The lowest price from an semi legitmate online etailer that I've been able to find is at goodguys.com and they got the rf-5 for 1350 plus shippping and tax.
  24. I'm actually going to goodguys right now to see what kind of deal they can offer me. Over the phone they quoted me 750 for one....so that equates to 1500 for two..Thats almost 500 difference in price from the online etailer.
  25. Thanks Bill, But I've been noticing that the price of Klipsch speakers vary so much on the internet. Again, the credibility might be questionable of the retailer but if someone from this forum had a good experience with them, I'd be willing to try also. I'm actually searching for new rf-5 speakers with warranty at the cheapest price available and was just hoping......that maybe someone had a good idea where that might be. J and R doesn't sell Klipsch...wadda bummer
