  1. I love my RSW-12! All I need is an excuse and I'm going to buy a 15 to replace it. Not that my room needs a 15, I need it! Not to mention, I love the way the RSW subs look! Scott
  2. Tasdom, Congrats on your RB-75 score! I've been looking for a pair of RB-5's and now you have me wondering whether the RB-75's might be what I want for my secondary system mains. I see the cabinet size difference and the rear port vs. the front port in your pics, is there a sonic difference that makes you select the 75's over the 5's? Scott
  3. If you're a Bob Marly fan the "Legend" DVD is a must have! The concert material is culled from different venues. The songs vary in video and audio quality but most of it is great. The studio material is mostly rough but a real treat to see them at work. I enjoyed the interview even though it's a very rough low quality recording in a tropical outdoor setting. It has a highly compressed and gated effect to keep the background noise from overpowering Marley's commentary. Needless to say it's difficult to understand his Rasta accent. The music videos are a nice addition to DVD too. You've probably seen them all on VH1 before. The only real disappointment for me was they didn't include his hit "Three little birds", and that's probably because a video recording of it doesn't exist.
  4. I was a little confused about how the Auto-On feature was supposed to work too. When I purchased the RSW-12 I also bought a high quality cable with an integral Y adapter, I found that when I turned the system on to watch TV, the sub power indicator LED stayed red. I inquired about this on the Klipsch forum and I was informed that there wasn't always enough LFE output from the Cable/TV to activate the AUTO/ON feature in the sub. What I have since found is that most TV commercials and reality shows have enough to activate the sub but programming like sitcoms and older movies won't be enough. I also found that if I turn up the system volume momentarily it usually will turn the sub on, for atleast 15 minute anyway! It's a great sub, I'm really happy with the way it can cave my chest and eardrums in when the girl lets me turn it loose!
  5. Love hertz...seems like you and I have the same tastes in HT gear and the same size wallets..lol I have to admit my RV-X2200 can get warm when I crank the volume... Permanent hearing loss could be a problem for me later in life!

  7. I'm almost afraid to say this but here goes.... I worked for Bose for 5 months in 1978 at their Framingham, Ma. headquarters,(I was 20yo at the time) first on their assembly line making the drivers for the Bose 901 series III. I lasted about one month applying epoxy to hold the dust cap on the cone of each driver, we managed to assemble about 1000 units a day. When I complained about the intolerable bordom they assigned me to the model 601 assembly line. I lasted four months doing a variety of tasks on that line. Now... here is my very biased opinion of the Bose product then and now. I believe that back in 1978 and now in 2003 that when you weigh price vs. product from Bose, They are way way over priced, excluding the model 601 speakers that I manufactured in 1978 and the original model 301's from the same era. Every other product they put their name on that I've auditioned is too pricey for what you're actually getting. In 1978 the only component that they made themselves was the 901 driver, I wonder how many parts they make now and how much of they're so called "advanced technology" is farmed out to separate R&D facilities. Bose is a wonderfully successful business from a marketing standpoint but when it comes to delivering quality vs. price it Blose! Last observation... I bought a pair of 601's in 1978 before I left Bose, I never had any problems till the foam surrounds on the woofers rotted out of them about 5 years ago. Last month I bought a foam surround replacement kit from an eBay site for $32.00, I took my time rebuilding the woofers and now my 601's sound as good as the day I brought them home. Except for their finicky placement issues they are a fine example of quality vs. price! By the way... the 601's are only deserving to be part of my system in my basement workshop. KLIPSCH rules in my house now!
  8. Thanks for the help! I guess I'll just have to deal with this problem and learn more about Bass management.
  9. I'm new to the HT environment and this forum. I have a problem that I haven't been able to solve on my own, hopefully some of you have an idea what might be wrong. I have a new RSW-12, when in the Auto on enabled mode the unit sits with a Red led indication. When I power up my system the sub will turn on automatically if I play a DVD, CD or the tuner section of my Yamaha RX-V2200 receiver. When I power up to watch TV/cable (RCN broadband)the sub won't turn on automatically. Although, if I turn the volume up on the Motorola digital converter (model DCT2224/1661/ACDEG) suppied by RCN the sub sometimes will come to life, but as soon as I bring it back to a normal listening level it times out and goes back to sleep. Any ideas what I can do to rememdy this problem?
