Somebody asked for me to tell them about my K-horns, but I was hoping somebody would tell me about my K-horns and if there are any wrothwhile upgrades/mods. Of course, I think they sound great the way they are.
My K-horns are Type KB-WO s/n 8509302 & 4
They sounded best when they were hooked up to a McIntosh MC2200 but since then I have reduced my number of components and went with an Onkyo A/V rcvr, which makes them sound brighter than with the Mac amp. Other amps I have used: Harman/Kardon 100w, SAE A-201 and a Phase Linear(aka Carver)amp, the McIntosh sounded best. I never had the opportunity to hook up a tube amp. I had always used a Phase Linear P3800 preamp when I did the seperates.
What do I like best about my horns: full-spectrum punch, not only do they play the whole spectrum accurately they do it with balls, from top to bottom, the dynamics and accuracy of the compression drivers is incredible.
Reasons why Klipschorns sound bad for some people: inadequate room volume, improper room placement, incompatible electronics(garbage in, garbage out, k-horns are not forgiving)
