  1. I used to have a Stanton MC cartridge that worked really well, but it wore out and I replaced it with a Grado MM (about $60) since I don't listen to records all that much anymore. The Grado works OK.
  2. Yes, I have the AK-2 crossover. Does anyone have the schematics and parts list for the AK-2 -3 and/or -4 they could share? I am curious as to what parts are used and what has been changed. I am thinking about experimenting with mine (it can always be put back to original) I understand that Fast Caps, Musicaps, et.al. are the norm, but has anyone experimented with metallized polyester film caps (about 1/10 the cost) or metallized polycarbonate caps(about twice the cost)? Also, I am very interested in this rope caulk, thinking that it is supposed to dampen and keepthe metal horns from ringing. What exactly is it, where do I get it and what is the proper way to put it on? thanks.
  3. What else do they make them out of? Are they using plastic these days??
  4. Hi, If it is not too late and if you have any more, I would appreciate a pair of pie slice emblems also! Thanks! Jeff
  5. When I used to biamp my K-horns, I used an active crossover by a company called Ace Audio (no longer in business), and the device had insertable modules to select the frequency. It worked very well and I recommend the box if you can find one with the correct xover freq.
  6. Thanks for the welcome. WHat I would like to know is if there are any upgrades/mods for my '85 K-horns that have a good bang for the buck? What is the ALK network I have read about? WHat would it do for me?? Thanks.
  7. Somebody asked for me to tell them about my K-horns, but I was hoping somebody would tell me about my K-horns and if there are any wrothwhile upgrades/mods. Of course, I think they sound great the way they are. My K-horns are Type KB-WO s/n 8509302 & 4 They sounded best when they were hooked up to a McIntosh MC2200 but since then I have reduced my number of components and went with an Onkyo A/V rcvr, which makes them sound brighter than with the Mac amp. Other amps I have used: Harman/Kardon 100w, SAE A-201 and a Phase Linear(aka Carver)amp, the McIntosh sounded best. I never had the opportunity to hook up a tube amp. I had always used a Phase Linear P3800 preamp when I did the seperates. What do I like best about my horns: full-spectrum punch, not only do they play the whole spectrum accurately they do it with balls, from top to bottom, the dynamics and accuracy of the compression drivers is incredible. Reasons why Klipschorns sound bad for some people: inadequate room volume, improper room placement, incompatible electronics(garbage in, garbage out, k-horns are not forgiving)
  8. New here to these boards. I was browsing and saw something about bucking magnets... what are they and what will they do for me??? I have a pair of K-horns (and think they are great) TIA Jeff
