  1. I'd rather not deal with a binding post replacement now. I have a lot of stuff going on and the Chorus II's are not so light to do this nor small in my compact room.
  2. Need to find new nuts for my Chorus II's (2004 models). Both red don't tighten. I just got these through inheritance. My dad used banana plugs...I'd rather use my spade connections. I am hoping the posts aren't the issue. That said, I wouldn't mind updating the Xovers myself if I have to replace the entire post assembly. However; my plan to to pick up some Crites pre-builts in a couple months along with my academy. Thanks Å
  3. still need, tried 5/16 x 24 nuts since my klipsch plastic pieces threaded on to the bolt size at the hardware store...didnt work. I am hoping the binding posts themselves aren't bad. Anyone know the thread size/pitch for 2004 Chorus II's? I don't want to go back to banana plugs.
  4. Gave them a bit of a sponge wipe down and they look black again. Now to try and restore the cabinets a bit more...the black liquid shoe polish didn't really work at all.
  5. Keep. I am not crazy about the brownish color, but I am going to try to clean them first and then I will order new cloth if that doesnt work out.
  6. Lol yeah, my dad got them locally in 'by the beach' S. Florida from an estate sale along with the Academy and a couple of mint Herseys. My original Klipsch journey started when my first marriage went south. I had a system of: Rotel RSP960 (surround processor and preamp) Rotel RB980 (120x2 amp) Rotel RB956 (100x3 amp) Rotel RT940 Tuner Definitive Technologies BP20's Definitive Technologies BP10's Definitive Technologies CLR1000 Mitsubishi U560 VCR Marantaz CC65SE 6 disc Mitsubishi 35405 35" Corian Topped TV A divorce prompted a fire sale. I was at the same place I bought all the gear from looking at the used items when a young guy came in looking to trade in a couple Oiled Oak Quartets, Academy, PSB 300's, a Yamaha RX-V1050 and some other odds and ends from a system he had in a GUEST bedroom. He was picking up a turntable setup that was something like $2k for just the stylus or tonearm... I have to admit when I came home I wasn't unhappy with the lesser set up and I still have it going. In my search for another academy (I sold my original one when I moved to a small apartment and had no room) I found a guy in Miami that had 10 or so Academy's, and several of the big Klipsch (Cornwalls and KHorns)...another mansion.
  7. someone else had told me 19 wasn't black since 17 was. They weren't sure the color 19 would be.
  8. Getting ready to finally play some music on my inherited Chorus II's and Denon AVR-X3500H and post positive nuts on the Chorus II's are totally stripped out. Anyone know a source for them, if possible maybe something a little nicer. My plan is rebuild the crossovers (leaning toward Crites from my experience, but not sure on other options) so if replacing the entire binding posts is a better option I am up for it (I cannot to the new crossovers until March probably as I have too many expenses moving into a new apartment while supporting my marital estate in a helluva divorce)... Let me know, I was hoping to blow out the old year into the new tonight.
  9. Anyone try this: https://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Blend-Lacquer-Sheen-Satin/dp/B06Y2BQVCB #35-40 satin sheen black lacquer from Mohawk?
  10. Thanks! I think mine have just faded. The cloth is still in great shape though.
  11. They look matching and both have #19 grill cloth which I am finding out is a brown/cigar type of color and not black.
  12. Thanks, the sharpie was what I was worried about as in my experience it's a very glossy and dark solution and the Chorus II looks more satin and a lighter shade of black. For the polish, TasDom, this is standard polish and not edge dressing right? I had considered edge dressing as well...
  13. My Chorus II have #19 specified for the Grills. They look slightly brown rather than the dark black of the academy and Quartets I have. Is this aging or is it indeed a brown color?
  14. I inherited some Chorus II and the risers got a bit beat up during the move Nothing horrible but one side of each has a couple chips, a couple banged corners and some minor scratches to the cabinets. The worst blemish is some water raised the grain on the top of one, but I will probably put something on it and try to forget about it :). Outside of the Rustoleum #7777 recommendations for fully refinishing, will plain old sharpie work OK or will it be too black?
  15. I have two Chorus II's I just inherited with serials 044391812 and 044391824 I am assuming these aren't sequential especially having different signatures for testing and inspected by.... Any advice?
  16. I probably need wall mounted speakers, I put in a diagram above, there is only about 12-18" between the Chorus II and the love seat. The bold line is a glass slider. It's a small room really for such mammoths but it is temporary until I buy another house. I may just find a way to run speaker wire and a pair of RS-25, 35, 3, 7 or 10. Maybe along the bottom of the slider and then put up a large piece of art to hide the wiring behind.
  17. I need a recommendation for some wifi speakers that will at least sound decent with a Chorus II / Academy setup for my apartment. I have a tile floor and the room is only about 12x12, listening with couch right on opposite wall. Perhaps virtual surround is all I need though, using a Denon AVR-X3500R. edit: thought I had Forte II's in the boxes but they were Chorus II Thanks Å
  18. I still have my Denon 4100W with Klipsch Quartets/Academy (both with Crites X-overs and diaphrams) and SS25's. An Emotiva Ultra 12 for sub, but they are in my house which has been taken over by my ex for the past year lol I am picking up a Denon 3500 and I have since inherited my father's Klipsch Forte IIs / Academy. I would like to do the X-Over rebuild and diaphrams but the midrange for the Forte's show out of stock. Also they need touch up work or a full repaint. No gouges really just some scratches near the bases. What is a good paint to buy? I'd like to do some surrounds but I am limited in my apartment since its a tile floor and I can't run wires through the ceiling. What's a good setup / wireless kit? I am debating a sub since it's an apartment, but open to opinions. It's newer construction so sound deadening is good. Is the Denon the way to go in the $500 range (refurb) or is there a much better bang for buck out there? **** EDIT FOUND A NEW 3500H for $549 at Crutchfield **** Thanks Å
  19. These are in great condition. My dad spent a premium for them, just passed away 11/9. I live 800 miles away, but here in Sweetwater, TN now. I am looking for $625 for pickup and whatever shipping and proper boxing would cost for delivery. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vhq3lqjutbhsj5k/AAD2qRDlpaiGje6_mtpce1YMa?dl=0 There is one tiny little blemish on the edge of one, it looks worse in the pics. The serial number tags are pretty gone, but these are totally mint otherwise. I live in West Palm Beach and could possible transport them there.
  20. My dad passed away 2 days ago on his birthday . He loved the way my Quartet/Academy/RS-25 setup sounded so much he went out and loaded up on Klipsch. He just moved up here (Sweetwater, TN) 800 miles away from home (S. Florida) a few months ago to retire on 12 acres of land and then found out he had Stage 4 cancer and pretty much nothing really got unpacked after that. His main system was a set of Forte II's in black (good condition, a little wear on the risers and some minor scratches on tops) and a black Academy (pretty clean). Then he wanted Klipsch for his master bedroom and picked up a pair of Heresys that I believe are Oiled Walnut with the sand colored speaker covering. I am still going through things here (I live 800 miles away). He couldn't find another black Academy so went out and bought a RC62 II center and also picked up a couple RF-82 II's he didn't need since it was a package deal. I do have the original box for the RC-62 II here. The RF-82 II's have never been opened. I have to look around still and see if he has a pair of unopened RS-x2 II's somewhere. It's going to get complicated as there is just too much stuff to do. I have no idea what shipping would be (sure I can go measure and weight, but there is so much to do now with a death in your immediate family) and what true values are. I will gladly provide pics sometime soon...it's already 3am and I have more work then to get up and meet with people. I am not sure if the speaker pairs are sequential serial numbers, but I can verify later (I know my Quartets are). Anyway just looking for some advice in all this too. He also has a bunch of Samsung flat panel TVs and most are new in box still. If anyone knows someone in the Tennessee area around Sweetwater which is about 45 miles from Knoxville and 185 from Nashville they can come here and make a bid on anything from one to many.
  21. My wife and kids are brain washed to never put anything other then picture frames. My wife said its funny to watch me during parties as I follow behind people picking up their drinks off of my speakers. You could get a piece of glass cut to size maybe some 1/4" smoked or clear would look cool, get em cut to size for the tops. Once she came home from the ER, it didn't happen again. j/k I actually had some glass cut at one time for one of them...I didn't like the look. If I do get into the party scene at home I will definitely put something on top of them as the Heritage line up is the perfect drink height for the most part

  23. My wife has ended up etching a round 'aerosol' can bottom in one of my Quartets and a coffee table. I don't know how she does it, but the Klipsch are off limits as table tops now.
  24. not ideal but the wall board can be channeled in the future. I can't tell if you have a smooth wall finish or textured. Smooth would be easier to match in, textured walls can be harder to match depending on finish. I am not sure if 120/220V code allows it like low voltage does.
