  1. Sophia is a nice little town. What impressed me about Sophia was that when it floods in West Virginia, IT FLOODS. The river banks were strewn with trash from recent floods that no one would (or could) clean up. I'm mtalking refridgorators, vinyl siding, you name it. Winterplace is pretty cool. My dog had his way with a dog there once...and they call it puppy love! Do you remember all the deer? Phil
  2. In a town called Logan in Logan Co. I may about an hour away SSW from the States Capital Hi EM3, I lived for a year in Beckley, WV in 1990. I met some of the best people I have ever know there. My ex-wife and I used to visit often and rummage through the strip mines looking for fossil plant material. I have a great fossil collection from those days. Only did it in the Winter because I'll be damned if I was going to turn over rocks in the summer ultimatly having to deal with a rattle snake or copperhead. Rafted the New, spent Thanksgiving at Eagles Nest, drove down the back road to the New River at Babcock State Park. I've had a ton of great memories there. Maybe the most beautiful area I have ever seen....certainly at the top!
  3. The dog can stay though, very cute and I'm a little afraid of a dog with a tatoo!
  4. My current favorite puppy, Bugsey and his kAt spot.
  5. I'll also bring a broom, dust pan, and vacuum.
  6. Out of my league....I would love to hear them though!
  7. Were not down that much, but we can feel it. We went to Ft. Fisher last weekend. I really love that place!
  8. I have been discusted with our lawn services over the past two years. I have hired and fired 4 different services and I now do it myself. However, I really need to get a pro in to do some thatching, ariating (sp), and fetilizing. Our drought has ruined my grass and I have 1.6 acres that I really can't afford to water. Had we built the house I would have installed a seperate meter for a watering system so I wouldn't have to pay sewer bills to water. Ironically, a house we almost bought last year instead of this one had a sprinlker system in place and a seperate well running it. Their grass looks great.....
  9. He lives close to Knoxville and I'm pretty sure it's a mansion. I'm picturing something like the Wizard of OZ. When we get within 50 miles of the city we should be able to follow the music!
  10. Paul, If you were smart your would have invested in Quarter mines...Duuhhhh Oh and by the way...I bought more corn also[] I'm 45, I want to see a down turn every now and again so I can get some "corn" on sale! Phil
  11. EM3, What part of West Virginia do you live in? Phil
  12. Indeed, Michael brings up a very good point. If Richard brings every forum member a pair of heritage Klipsch speaker then I say let him stay... Who's with me![8-|] Thanks Michael for the great idea
  13. He was such a nice guy. He helped explain a few things to me once which was very helpful....what happened...WHAT HAPPENED! Anyway, back to the banning! I have my pitchfork and torch at the ready!
  14. T2K, I don't know if your post was meant to be funny or not, but I did get a good laugh out of it![]
  15. Has anyone else noticed that the floors are filthy and the carpet needs to be vacuumed? BAN HIM! We cannot allow this!!! Umm, why are we banning coytee again? This is just plain fun whatever the reason!
  16. Has this trouble maker not been baned yet! WHAT DOES IT TAKE!!!!
  17. They may sound great, but 15K? Just doesn't sit well. However we are talking about a product that isn't on the market yet. How do you build interest, contraversy! Marketing 101. You can always go down on price, but it's hard as hell to raise a price. Marketing 102. []
  18. I'll give you the definition of ZERO. At the Beach Boys concert last night I tried to buy another beer after last call. ZERO, NADDA, NOTHING.....It was not close nor was it almost, it was NADDA., NOTHING, ZERO.... I find my coilations are best done when using alcohol!
  19. I don't think the mining industry should be shut down. It does provide a benefit. I'm not informed enough to know what the implications of burning coal mean in the long term. These miners (all miners) know going in the mine there is a real risk every day that they may not come out. They know this. However it is the line of work they choose, and God bless them! Every line of work has it's risks and for the most part we know what they are. Like I said before, I used to live in West Virginia in the heart of mining country. The family's knew the risks. No matter how many safety measures are put in place it is one of the most dangerious situations to be in when something goes wrong. You just can't stop the extreme geologic pressures which are only complicated when mining. Again eveyone knows it, accepts it, and moves on. It's no easier on the family who have a loss, but they understood the inherant dangers well in advance. Way back when...the coal operators did some shady things including the "company store" that enslaved even the family's of the miners. The Union brought about acceptable safety measures and cleaned up the industry. I really know nothing about "retreat mining" and perhaps that method should be looked at closely to determine it's safety. If they continue with that method perhaps more advanced robotic technics need to be developed.
  20. Heck, when I saw the clip was almost 9 minutes long I turned it off. I guess I couldn't do it either
  21. Per Amy: "And it turns out the atomic number for the element palladium is 46." I didn't take Chem., I was more into cutting up things, so I can't say beyond that. Well, on second thought, my birthday last week could have something to do with it, but that would just be a coincidence. Travis Damn, I turn 45 on Monday. I'm always "1" off.
  22. Whoa GARY and DTEL, Did you hear that? Gary, you got $7,500 for free and DTEL got CWIII for free, you can't get inversely bigger that that[] I think I will wait for the Klipsh earphones to come out. Travis Give me a break Travis, I'm still laughing! I'll wait for the 18 wheeler speaker myself.....[:@]
  23. Really tough, no doubt. When I said what I did earlier, I hope no one mis-interpreted that I felt Murray didn't care. I think he does. I think he panicked at first, as would I I'm sure. He did get better about a week in. I think his lawyers and PR people got him him to lay off the blame. I lived in West Virginia for a while and knew many miners. It's tough work and work I couldn't do.
